Met me this morning when i uncovered the buds . Without sounding too dramatic it was like something from a massacre, blood everywhere. On inspection i realised it was old Jo, he had obviously taken a fall in the night and broken another feather . Thankfully it had stopped bleeding, i usually have to use vasaline to stop it so thank god it had stopped on its own. I then realised the night light had given up the ghost so in his panic he couldn't see to get back up which would explain why it was sprayed everywhere. Whole cage clean and even the night blanket had to be washed. Im amazed he survived this tbh, he must have lost so much. He is looking a bit subdued and wobbly today so the heating has been turned up and a bigger light has been left on tonight. Hope he pulls through this .

Thanks all, ive been reading about it, again , and they can loose half their blood supply and survive but any more and it can prove fatal. I think it must have been getting on for half this time round and im sure he has been in a bit of pain, ive given them a nice big willow branch in the hope he will chew a piece and get some relief. I have some Metacam but im not sure how much to give. I see what the morning brings.

I have seen mention of guardian angel on here, would that kind of thing help like a rescue remedy, to calm or is it more medicinal?
Hopefully all will be ok tonight and Jo sounds very lucky and obviously has good clotting.

What a fright for you both. Hope old Jo Jo is all okay today. This is the problem with the confined space in a cage. If they get a scare or fall off in the night, they tend to bounce off and bang around all the obstacles in there.

Maybe try replacing their water with camomile tea for a couple of nights.

The first thing I would be doing is replacing the wretched light! Bad light!! To give JoJo such a terrible time. Is he and egg or eggfood eater, Skysmum? Try and build him up again - guardian angel is probably a good idea. As I recently said to the lady who looked after my three a few weeks ago, I would rather they bounced off the bars of the cage at low speed than bounce of the walls of the house at high speed! If this had happened in the aviary, who knows what may have been the end result. Hope he is all back to his good self very soon. Godspeed, JoJo.

Oh! Sorry to hear this Skysmum, I've only just caught up. I'm just glad you knew what to do and the bleeding had stopped on it's own. Obviously you have very smart people on here giving sound advice. Best of luck and a speedy recovery for Jojo.

Jo and i thank you for your good wishes, he is a little brighter today but very wary with his footing and if the others start messing around near him he freezes. He is nursing his left leg a little i noticed today so im keeping an eye on that. Egg food is always available to them Hezz, they have had such a long moult this year, he is not a fan of it sadly. Ive put an order in for some more Guardian Angel which should arrive in the next couple of days. The camamile tea has gone in at tea time, thanks stace. This little guy never fails to amaze me, he bounces back (sorry) from everything that his little world throws at him and he is one very special little chap.
