I wish someone would make a children's book version of this info. It's so sad for me since my stroke. The information I read goes in my brain but doesn't seem to be retained anywhere. Imagine the information going in and one sentence at a time being retained the rest is falling off a cliff somewhere into a void. If I can visualize some series of events that seem to make up action I can remember very long stories. Somehow this info just makes my head hurt. I really would like to learn this stuff though. I am sorry to know this Genetics can't be explained easier than this, I guess

looking at the bottom one now, I had forgotten Bailey looking baby faced.. bless him These picture confirm that Bailey is a White Based budgie with Grey added to his original body color. But he is a Cinnamon as well. Although the Cinnamon does not affect the body feathers color, it can still give them a Cinnamon tinge. So Bailey's complete mutation would be, "Dominant Pied Cinnamon Grey".

Here is my "cinnamon Grey", but unlike Bailey, he is not a Dominant Pied.

Sorry to hear that, Phoebe. I suppose it might be possible to make a picture book style, but it might not be very explanatory.
Bailey is gorgeous! I wonder if I'll ever be able to name mutations as easily as BB does ^^;

True, you do get to see the results of different crosses and the practical application of the theory.

I think if I visited someone who was a breeder often I would remember. I remember much better things people tell me out loud, often it's accompanies with visual clues about where we were ect. Since my stroke my brain is like one of those computers that seizes up from time to time. I used to not understand people like myself. I was an avid reader and could memorize whole books. So if I was explaining something and someone got lost I didn't understand. Now I do. I'm a bit like the girl in 50 first dates yet different. Like if I watch a movie and then you ask me what was the movie about I wouldn't remember. However after one clue it might come rushing back to me. Then the next day I wouldn't know what the movie was about. My daughter asks me did you see this movie, when she is preparing to rent. I know I did, I know if I liked it or not. I can't remember what it was about. I always wanted to know my budgies mutations. I found Charlies mutation (someone told me) and it was so easy to remember. He is a Greywing. His wings are grey, Lol. His feet are dark. That's all I know. It stuck for some reason. Maybe I could make a post when I have good pics (or with old pics) and I could try to know their genetics. P.S. Saw 50 first dates many many times.

It was a very good film. You must get so frustrated at times. But at least all the threads are on here, and you know, whilst not trying to compare, it's amazing what I forget these days. So I'd say, based on how you write etc, you are doing fine! Greywing, I do love a grey, as Bailey proves

phoebe it's rotten when you can't remember things as well as you once did. I have trouble these days - a combination of getting older (much), tiredness (lots) and lack of mental exercise. Remembering names is a nightmare! I once taught and held a senior responsibility post in a fairly big school... these days I'd have trouble remembering the names of the staff let alone all the children! Genetics... complicato to say the least but... I reckon if you've a need to know it helps you remember. Also taking just tiny bites at something new, going back over it many times before taking the next bite seems to help me.... sometimes. Book titles and films? Haven't a clue. I rely on the colours and illustrations on book covers to remember whether I've read something or not. I've often enjoyed a book halfway through before remembering I'd read once already years ago.
