BB, the funny little squiggley feathers over Dilly's chest and crop and some around the sides of her head. I thought they may have gotten this way because she was over-preening herself or just not very good at it yet, but that doesn't explain the ones on the sides of her head. Is this completely normal and we just haven't seen baby budgies up as close as we are seeing Dilly, so haven't noticed, or are they a Dilly-phenomonen?

The ones on the crop and around the neck are due to both reasons. My cleaning after feeding and Dilly trying to line them up

Depending on the hen, we can get them in parents fed chicks too, but maybe not this much.

Above are two examples of parent fed chicks of similar age.

I cannot believe she is already preening herself, just amazing. What amazes me is that we can see that personality coming through even when they are so young, just like little people.

I cant believe that i have been away for just over a week and look how this dear little soul has changed. She is gorgeous BB. One question, a way back you mentioned the air bubbles and winding them. Do they get the bubbles like this when the hen is feeding them and if so how is it dealt with then and is it vital that you do wind them, sorry that's 2 questions . Im sorry if this has already been mentioned but i cant recall seeing it.

They grow fast, don't they But not for someone who has to feed every few hours I have seen but haven't experienced such noticeable air bubbles in hen fed chicks, which require my intervention.
