Hi again Only advice I can offer is to buy as big as you can afford, but if it is just for him you are still going to need a nice size so he is able to fly around. Best thing when buying a cage is to buy for width not for height (as budgies dont fly up) but here are some cage ideas that you may find helpful: Show me your cage set upWhen you say you keep him in your back yard, does he go into an aviary?

Aren't you able to keep him indoors and let him have a fly around?

Oh I see - looking from your other picture on gender he looks like an older bird to me so training him may take a little longer. However it still is achievable with patience and perseverance. Would you consider taming him so it would be possible to let him out? Perhaps start by getting him used to your hand in the cage he is in whilst you decide on the right cage. Take a look here for training tips I hope you do decide to let him out as budgies do need their exercise
