and I have been to collect my four baby girlies and here three of them are, one of them is camera shy!! They are approx 17/18 weeks old and are a rare breed of Buff Orpington. Being as I live in Kent and Orpington is in Kent, is but one of the reasons I have gone for B/Orpingtons. Aren't they stunning? I am sooo pleased with them and will let you know their names in due course, bit undecided at present and characters have to become obvious as to who is top dog hen. Hope you are not disappointed that I misled you a bit with me getting 4 more girlies that were not budgies!!

Well I was expecting to see budgies. But what the hell they are birds. They do look very nice.

They're gorgeous but definitely not budgies. My dad has chickens.

Naughty girl, leading us on like that!!! Do they have any particular markings to make knowing who's who easier? To my untrained eye they all look the same, even though I am sure their nature's will be very different. So, Good Morning Chookies. You all look very sweet.

Gotta say Hezz, at the moment they appear to be absolutely identical!! No doubt personalities will emerge as time goes by. One of them is poorly at the moment so I have to get back on to the breeder to find out whats what. Thanks everyone for your kind remarks, I think they are pretty too but then I am biased!!

I also clicked the thread expecting to see 4 baby budgie hens! These girls are lovely. They look so soft. What do you think is wrong with the poorly one?

Oh, hope it's nothing serious. Hope she gets better, Shirls. Good luck. Come on, little Buff Orpington chicken, get better real soon. Lol ...... I saw this quote as a description for these chookies - the Scarlett Johanssons of the chicken world...

I have been doing a little more reading about these big fluffy-bummed girls ....... everyone seems to love their friendly and docile natures. The more I read the more I like ........

I call the budgies my little chookies. "Chooks" gives a real sense of the birds rather than "chickens" to me. Chickens sounds too much like chicks, which all birds have ...... rather than indicating the egg-laying, foraging, ground-scratching, fully grown ..... CHOOK.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments about my lovely FLUFFY BUMMEDgirls. They certainly do have fluffy bums!! They are all feathers and no flesh too, they are really tiny underneath all that fluff. I cuddled the poorly one today and she is gorgeous. I am afraid I don't know whats wrong with her. She isn't eating or drinking and is sleeping a lot. It is very hot here at the moment and perhaps she didn't like the journey home. Have taken advice from the breeder and if she doesn't improve I have to take her back for medication. This particular breeder appears to be very good and you can take birds back and they treat them themselves. Bit of a drag as they are about 25 miles away!! They have been breeding chickens for 30 yrs, so I would think they know what they are doing.
