Yeah, I know starlingqueen. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) Love your, are they Lacewings? I have just moved house and to be quite honest don't have any flower beds as such. The two grassy bits you can't really call grassy anymore anyway. All the plants that are here are HUGE and I am sure they will be a bit chicken proof. I have numerous pots and hanging baskets, so will be able to keep some flowers!!! There is also a rather large, tiered plot at the front so some flowers can be planted there too. The way things are going tho, I don't feel the present coop is large enough basically cos I can't get in it to clean it properly!!! So, new plans are afoot.

Those coops are very small and difficult to clean out. We have an old Wendy house that we converted into a coop, it's easy to clean out as it's so spacious, I can't stand up in it but very nearly, when I shrink due to old age I might. ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png) The black and white one, is a Wyandotte. and the grey ones are French, blue marrans. The 2 brown ones were my Ex battery hens.

I must admit skysmum, I certainly wouldn't get 4 hen budgies! I think I would be insane to do so too!! hehe Hezz - I am not too sure. The antibiotic powder came yesterday and because Penny (the poorly hen) wasn't drinking as much as the others I gave her a good dose of the mixture by syringe. She was sooo good and seemed to pick up in the afternoon. This morning tho, she didn't run to the food when I let them out like the others did. I went down just now and she has her head on her back asleep again. I suppose I am being a bit impatient waiting for the antibiotic to work as it hasn't been 24 hrs yet. I think a visit to the vet will be in order very, very soon. The other three seem fine. Penny (Pen the hen)is the only one with a name so far, have got names in mind for the others when their characters emerge!

Well guys - long story short - no more meds from breeder have arrived, so researched 15,000 vets this morning on the internet and found one that would see Henny Penny. Good examination of her, she weighs .46 (of a kilo I suppose) and she was given a good dose of Tylan orally. Have to take her back in the morning to see the vet with more experience with chickens! Only one consultation fee to be charged, which is very good of them. Henny-Penny is drinking more water by herself this afternoon, still not eating tho, but fingers crossed.

Good grief that is not very good, Fancy having to go to all that trouble. Good of the vet to only charge the once. Let's hope it all ends for the better. It sounds like Henny-Penny has perked up a little bit.

So pleased she is looking a bit better, hopefully she will soon be on the mend. There are very few vets that treat chickens. Even though we live in a rural location our vet had never treated a chicken. She said most people would just ring the chooks neck. When my chook was attacked by the fox we had to give her oral antibiotics every day for 2 weeks. That meant we had to catch her and while one person held her the other had to squirt the meds into her beak. We then had to keep her in a cage over night so the other chooks didn't pull her stitches out before we got up to let them out. She hated us after that. ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) We kept them all in our conservatory for the 2 weeks as we didn't want to let them out until we had the run built. They made so much mess.

Still keeping fingers and feathers crossed for Henny-Penny, Shirls, though it does sound as though she is doing better. Let us know what the chook-vet has to say, please. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Honestly I am soooo inexperienced with chicken behaviour!!! Again, long story short - breeder is coming over to me tomorrow with a vaccine which will hopefully sort out all the chooks. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Vet visit therefore cancelled today - but will have to go and pay the bill!!! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png)

They are getting to know me already Hezz, I have a little metal tin which contains dried meal-worms and they go crazy for them!!! Brilliant bargaining power to close them up for the night in their little bedroom! ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) Must add that I shake the tin of course each time so they can hear it, although they see me coming with it!
