You wont be putting them in there this year tho surely? You have to have the little feathered menaces indoors for a little while longer eh? I know I would

I managed to persuade Mrs L that my 6 should be in the conservatory for the first winter complete with balanced flu (no fumes) gas heater every night as she didn't want them to be chilly But by the following summer, when temperatures rose so high, they were happy to move out. Surprisingly Mrs L was sad to see them go - surprising because she had a real phobia of anything with wings that flapped until the budgies moved in. I'm still working on my aviary more than a year later. These things can't be rushed.

I am happy for you that Mrs L appreciates them as well, now. It seems budgies have a way of winning almost anyone over.

That's wonderful news skysmum, planning ahead. I know we don't want to lose any of our budgies, but we do have to be realistic. It will be something to look forward to through this horrid winter that has just started.

My question was about going forward with the aviary, but you decided to go ahead with budgies

My question was about going forward with the aviary, but you decided to go ahead with budgies One has to get ones priorities right BB When they do go in there i want them all to go in together so being indoors for the winter will give me the opportunity to make or introduce new ones .

You must have SOME sort of idea otherwise you wouldn't be thinking it! Oh well, I guess I will just have to be patient As soon as they over the moult, have been well nourished and Inca gives me the thumbs up i will offer her the Boudoir and give it a go. I would say about a month-ish. But im not sure who the daddy will be yet Believe me im struggling with being patient too

At last, some progress on the aviary today, insulation finished . If our dear old neighbours hadn't decided to replace the whole of one side of the garden fence things would have happened sooner . We have just spent the last three weekends clearing over 100ft down one side of the garden to allow it to happen .
