Hopefully she will surprise us again and spring back, using up another of her nine(teen) lives.

Feel better, Smudgie. Your meds will help. Hugs, little girl.

Hopefully the twice-daily dose is doing the trick - I haven't noticed her squeaking to poo this morning. Phew! Her posture looks more relaxed as well. She is supposed to have a couple of days off the Meloxan every now and then to give her gut a rest, but that won't be happening for a little while now. I think I will keep her on the twice-daily dosing until Tuesday when I will be home all day to monitor her. She does cause me to worry, but we do seem to have reached an understanding with the dosing. If this is of any help to anyone else, good - I use the tip of the syringe to get the tip of her top beak into, and then lift her beak to open her mouth. Keeping her beak tip in the syringe, I am able to dribble some of the meds into her mouth, give her throat a little massage, just as you would with a dog and a tablet, then repeat with the rest. To me it seems a little less traumatic for us both. I thought she, or any bird, would just let it dribble out of their mouths doing it like this, but it seems not, and with her head tipped up she doesn't have a lot of choice but to swallow (and Karen the vet gave it the thumbs-up ). I am sure some of you are thinking " yeah, I have been doing that for years" ; I just wish someone had told me, is all.

Good tip to know...yes, pet ownership does bring it's fair share of worry, at times...pleased Smudge is improving.
