Thank you everyone for your beautiful thoughts - I am sure they are helping with this mini-miracle. At 10am I weighed her again (doing this twice a day, to make sure she is holding her weight steady) and she has gained another gram - how exciting is that? How happy one can get over something that can barely be weighed! So the trend is going upwards, and she has been eating this morning as well. I had been confining her to the small cage, but honestly don't think this was actually of any help to her. I let her out initially in the afternoon, because we had nothing left to lose, and even though I had offered her grit earlier in the day which she ignored, she pretty much went straight to the grit pot and was there for quite some decent amount of time. Then up to the seed pot in the big cage, whereas she wouldn't touch the pot in her cage, or the millet. It seems she was associating these with her being sick; she wanted fresh stuff. Oddly, once I tipped out the old seed and replaced it with new, still using the old pot, she went straight in to eat. If only I had known it was so simple! She must feel that the food was contaminated; the others don't mind - they don't get millet very often!! Karen, the vet, called her "our miracle bird". Here's hoping for a few more for her. She wants Spyro to feed her but the silly boy is too busy getting himself into a spin and showing off.

Who would have thought that she connected the smaller cage to being ill? But if you think about it, how many times do people start to get better once they are home? Maybe there is something to this for all? Oh this is such good news I am dancing round the lounge! Keep it up Smudgy!

Brilliant, perhaps she is like us as soon as you make an appointment at the doctors you feel better and the thought of the vets again was upsetting her. That little bird has so many people sending good vibes, prayers and love from all over the world it must be like a rainbows all ending on your home.

38-39gms tonight. But I have to remind myself that this is only addressing the immediate problems; the original problem is still there and has to be dealt with as best we can. Keep the good things coming please, everyone - if positive thoughts and healing colours can seemingly cure cancers, why not this little bird?

Definitely, at this stage, M. I am looking forward to giving the surgery a call tomorrow to give an update. Tonight she is sleeping with the others, fingers crossed for a good night. I didn't want to put her into the other cage when she had made such improvements ....... negative vibes and all that.

It is so uplifting to hear of Smudge improving. I'm not too surprised at the way she associates particular things with becoming ill. Isn't that how it happens in the wild. They have to learn the things or places not to eat, even if the specific is not quite right. The thing is will she learn about what made her ill in the first place?
