Come on Smudgekins! Keep up the improvements, bit at a time and get better! The whole thing about associating vets / travel cages and being isolated with illness I think makes total sense. I do believe some birds are more tuned into these kind of thoughts and it leaves them feeling out of sorts and they won't eat. I'm relieved to hear the little sweetheart is making tiny steps in the right direction, I do hope this will continue. Lots of positive vibes from Lemonades flock.

So pleased Hezz. At least if Smudge has some weight on her she can fight to get better a lot easier than being under-weight. Keep it up Smudgie! Still sending healing vibes.

38gms at her morning weigh in; her vet said to allow around 2gms loss overnight as normal, so still going forward. They are all out getting a little morning sun right now, and I think she is actually enjoying it. The sun, I mean, not necessarily being closed up in the small cage with Mischief-Mango. The cages got a good clean out this morning, all perches etc, everything from the small cage scrubbed and refreshed, so hopefully that sick feeling surrounding it has gone for her. Even the covers have gotten a wash, so everything is pristine. I gave the surgery a call to leave a message for Demian, the vet we have been seeing, to say she is improving, the vet nurse who took my call was so excited and happy for Smudge. Next thing to work out is how long to leave her on twice daily medication, how much she is going to need to keep the cause of all this under control for the time being. After this last hurdle, and with half the pet budgie world behind her, anything is possible. Group hug, everyone.

We pushed the 40gm mark tonight. That is the positive. The negative is that she still has the pooping issue. She still does have some problems, but at least is still able to ....... poop that is.

Steady on 40gms this morning, so again we are doing okay. I think she spat most of her meds though! And here I was congratulating myself on how well we had been doing with them - me with the delivery and her for the consumption. Budgies, eh?

Smudge is so fortunate to have such a devoted caretaker. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you all.

Come on, Smudge. Be a good girl and take your medicine. It will make you feel so much better. And it will make your mom so much happier.

Even if she is spitting some of the meds out she must be feeling better and she must still get some down. You are both doing great.
