I'm so sorry to hear this, it's been a bad week on the forum for the buds with Smudge & Luee. X

birdguhl, I brought Smudge home as well. It is the right thing to do, I feel. Hope you and Berry are doing okay. xxx

Thanks, Hezz (and thanks everyone for your kind thoughts). I hope you and your flock are okay too. Your buds will certainly be missing the big personality who was Smudge! We are doing okay here but it is strange not having Luee in his usual place. Berry seems pretty good. He has been eating as normal and seems reasonably perky. The others have been spending a lot of time down at the big cage. But it is hard seeing him in there by himself and knowing how much close contact he is not getting now. Yesterday I opened up the door of the big cage while Woody and Charlie were feeding nearby, hoping that either Charlie or both of them would go in. Charlie and Berry have a close relationship and I thought it might be comforting if they were to have a bit of time together. As it happened Woody only went in and Berry seemed a bit intimidated by this. He spent quite a bit of time running around on the floor of the cage which is not normal for him. After about 20 minutes I let Woody out and he seemed ready to exit. The getting-the-buds-ready-to-move plan has been delayed by losing Luee. I was putting Charlie and Woody's meals in their small cage to encourage them to spend more time in there in the hope of eventually being able to detain them in there in order to move, but I don't want Berry eating by himself so have reverted to putting C & W's dishes on the outside of the big cage to maintain a 'flock feeding' experience for him. I just have to accept it will take the time it is going to take. I am in the fortunate position of being able to move gradually anyway.

I hope the boys are all coming to grips with the fact they are now three. Sometimes I think it is harder on us all when they go suddenly. Is Berry able to move in with the other two, at all?
