Edward is somewhere around 7 maybe 8 years old. Was she kept caged before she came to you do you know?

I was told that she had flight time previously. That really is quite strange? Who can explain it tho? Ahhh bet Stace's vet would be able to as he seems to be a budgie behavioural expert as I cant see it being anything else?

It could have been stress due to the move. She was 7 years old and is a hen.. they don't like change.
I was told that she flew before although not that well.

Maybe not stress but moving to new surroundings and a lack of confidence to explore due to the less than perfect flying skills. Her cage and immediate surroundings have become familiar and she is now quite happy with her lot. As we so often say these budgies are quite intelligent, so why go exploring when there is all she needs right where she is. Edward wants to see what the boys have when they are in the conservatory. She can hear them and they all call to each other but she can't see them from where the cage is. Many a time one of the boys is in the cage and the other is in the conservatory and I have never seen Edward attempt to fly in there. Only when they are both out of sight has she attempted the flight. I have just this minute seen Edward try to jump from one perch to another that was at the side but slightly behind her. She missed it as she did not make the turn, and fell to the bottom of the cage. Both perches are low down so no problem there. It's as though she knew what to do but just didn't put it into practice. We need a budgie behavioral psychologist.
