I'm expecting to hear a second little sqwark any day now. Shirley is very protective, if she's out eating and I walk in she hurries back in her nestbox. I see her sometimes sticking her head out looking around, makes me howl with laughter. They are so cute.

Yes, maybe it was fate. All because Shirley was getting into fights! Maybe she was trying to nest and that caused the fighting? Don't know.
Looked this morning, baby has grown. No more have hatched. I'm being strict with myself and only looking once a day, in the morning when I clean the cage and change the food and water.

They grow soooo fast, you can even see a difference from morning to evening. Could well be what the fighting was all about, hens will be hens

Second egg has hatched!
Shirley was eating so I looked and baby no.1 was wriggling about and is rather large now and baby no.2 was tucked under baby no.1's bald wing!
I've never been blessed with children and not sure if I ever will be but all this is just so heart warming. I'm so proud of Shirley and John.

Oooh, chick number 2!
Sounds like they have done a great job feeding number 1.
Well done Shirley and John.

Shirley was up on the swing when I came down this morning, I took a picture - is a bit blurry but thought I'd upload it anyway.

Baby no.3's hatched.
No.2 and no.3 were tuck under each wing of baby No.1.
Very cute.
No.1 is huge now, phenomenal how fast budgies grow from birth.
I wonder what other animals grow as fast?

I always find it amazing that some animals can be up and running around hours after they are born!

Is number 4 with us yet? How old is number 1 now? I wonder what colour they'll be, looking forward to seeing a photo when it's safe to do so. No need to rush that though
