I need some advice, the long egg that I found in nestbox 24, I'm still not sure which hen laid this egg and no other eggs are laid in this box since, so I think it was one of the hens from the new lot that was in the process of laying when I moved them to my aviary and laid it into any box she could find, and has not returned to that box, this is only my suspicion and would like to know if no other eggs are laid in this box soon, should I put the eggs under one of my other hens to incubate, any advice would be appreciated
Thanks Lushen

As long as the egg didn't get cold, fostering it will work.

Hi guys, I decided to put the long egg from nestbox 24 into the lutino hen's box in nestbox 18, I hope she accepts the egg and incubates it Attachments:

Hi guys here's and update for today, the lutino hen from nestbox 18 did not accept the long egg from nestbox 24 and she broke it but I think its because I moved the egg from nestbox 24 to nestbox 18 with my hand. Do you think that she broke it cause I touch the egg with my hand?
Also found the egg in nestbox 13 from pair number 5 also broken and I found the hen which broke the egg to be a young hen who has a partner and is moving from box to box looking to either settle down or cause chaos, not sure what she is up to, should I remove this hen with her partner from my colony setup and sell them?
Thanks Lushen

You would've been more successfull adding the egg to a nest with more eggs she probably knew it wasn't hers your touching the egg wouldn't affect anything

Thanks for the reply Sydney, what do you suggest I do with the hen which broke the eggs in nestbox 13, should I remove her and her partner from the colony breeding cage

Hi guys, just a quick update, on looking into the nestboxes yesterday, I found that pair 1 in nestbox 1 have 2 chicks, I'm so excited, these are my first chicks for the colony breeding program. Should I put the marble and some shavings in now or should I only put the marble in now and wait for all the other eggs to hatch and then put in shavings? Thanks Lushen Attachments:

Congratulations You can clean the nest box but don't disturb anything. Add wood shavings when all the eggs are hatched. Marbles are placed for the hens which sit too tight. I don't put it at all.
