Thanks guys I'm also excited,
Hi Buddy I guess I don't need to put a marble in for this hen cos she always pulls the eggs to one side of the box to incubate them, never found her incubating eggs in the concave. As for cleaning the box its gonna be hard to do without disturbing the eggs and chicks, so what do you suggest I do, maybe use a small brush to bring all the dirt to one corner and remove it from that corner or should I wait till all the chicks hatch and put in some shavings to soak up all the droppings and change the shavings a few days later, that way the chicks will be bigger and the mum will tolerate it if I accidently touch the chick while cleaning.
I found that the lutino hen from nestbox 18 where I put the foster egg which she broke, also have one of her own eggs broken from the 2 that she laid and she has a few chips on the other eggs, so I guess I really messed up putting the other egg in with hers, she must be one of those hens that doesn't like being disturbed, I don't think she is going to lay any more and doubt she will incubate the last egg, will just have to wait and see what happens
This is a learning experience for me and at least I'm getting to know a little about my birds every day.
Thanks Lushen

Just make sure that your hands are super clean and warm before handling the chicks. It is a learning process all the way

On checking the nestboxes today, I found that pair 1 in nestbox 1 now have 3 chicks. Its amazing how the other 2 chicks have grown after just a few days. Attachments:

They grow and breed really fast as they have short life span. They wean in 40 days. A six months budgie is sexually mature. Whereas Harpy Eagles feed their chick up to one and half year.

Yup Buddy, they do have a short life span when compared to other birds, how long would you keep a breeding pair before replacing it and what it the best breeding years for a budgie.
Thanks Sydney, but to be honest I haven't treated this bird yet as I'm waiting for her to finish this clutch before treating her.
Thanks Lushen

Thanks Lushen Two clutches every 8 to 9 months, if this is what you mean. 10 months to 3 1/2 years for hen and 5 years for cock.

Good Morning guys, sorry I haven't updated you as I had a busy weekend, here are some pics from friday, I found in nestbox 1 another chick hatched, but unfortunately the second chick to hatch was found flattened (at the top of the pic). What are the possible causes for the chick to be flattened, is it that the mom was sitting too tight, I also noticed that dad goes into the box to feed and sleep as well, so could it be a space issue in the type of boxes that I am using, and should I put in a marble into this box? Here is an another pic with the flattened chick and the broken egg shells removed, I haven't cleaned the nestbox as yet, cos I'm not sure if the mom will accept the chicks if I touch them with my hand, waiting for the last egg to hatch, then I will have it cleaned and put some shaving in Attachments:

Here's a pic of nestbox 3, I don't know if you can notice it in the pic, but one of the eggs is very dark in colour when compared to the rest, can anyone tell me why? This is the nestbox with the hen that moved from nestbox 4 to nestbox 3 and laid her last egg there cost nestbox 4 with the first 3 eggs got wet due to a leak in the roof of the avairy Attachments:

No Buddy I don't give them liquid calcium, but I give them cuttlefish bone, will get some liquid calcium and put it in the water.
Hi Sydney when I checked today I found that the hen had cracked the three lighter coloured eggs and left the dark one so they must have been damaged by the water getting into the box, I think the dark one is either rotten or dead in shell
