I don't want to jinx myself, but Boo's poo has been - not just great - but perfect, for at least a month. Nice, tight and dry little black and white balls. The kind you could "ping" into the distance with a flick of flick of the finger. I wonder how long he'll last without getting himself into trouble again?

Here we go AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
Back to the vet this morning. Barium meal Xrays, wet smear, gram stain, droppings culture test, choana culture test, crop wash, emergency crop feeds x 2.
Have to return tomorrow morning for more barium and crop feeds and the results of the special culture test, which needs to be done off-site.
Boo's nowhere near as bad as last time. Last time he was blocked in his proventriculus, which is the first part of the stomach. Now he's blocked in his intestines which is the end part. So Vet thinks it must be little bits of stuff building up over time.
$630 poorer, so far. My bloomin' million dollar budgie.
The lesson for everyone out there. DO NOT let your budgies eat rope fibres or carpet or any fabric. It is a NIGHTMARE!

Oh poor Boo! I do hope he makes a full recovery. Love to the little expensive fella. x Thanks, M. The vet said he's nowhere near as sick as last time when he was a whisker away from being an ex-parrot. I've gotten to know Boo's insides way too well. Funny seeing all his little bits on the Xray. As a secondary issue, he's also got a Vit D deficiency. There's been barely any sun here at all for about a month, so I've got to give him some Vit D and Calcium supplements as well. There'll be meds too, but I won't know that till tomorrow. I've got several work engagements tomorrow am, so Marc is taking him out early, leaving here at around 7am. The vet is about an hour or so drive away. Can be 1.5 hours if traffic is bad.

I was told that they had to be anesthetised or that, which is why I have never had it done for any of my buds. All the best bods have vit D deficiencies, I have one too!

All the best bods have vit D deficiencies, I have one too! My vet doesn't use anaesthesia. The assistant holds him down somehow, I think. It's a moment of discomfort, but it's done really quickly. Last time he had to have a series of x-rays, I did hear Boo screaming blue murder for about two seconds from where I was in the waiting room. Just watching how quickly my vet does the syringe feeding and crop swabs is amazing. It's done in an instant so Boo barely knows what's happening and it's all over.

A good vet is worth his/her weight in gold Mine is so calm with them. He is the budgie whisperer! When I hold sky he goes bonkers, squawking making a noise. But when the vet holds him he calmly talks to him like he's a little person and sky doesn't make a sound.

It's the x-rays that cost the big dollars, too. I'm just now wondering how long it will take to catch Boo up tomorrow morning at sparrow's. He's onto me now, the little sly dog.

Yeah. Budgies are expensive aren't they! Anyone that thinks they will be a cheap pet can think again! Devious little Boo..
