Nah, Yuki's the boss in terms of dominance, apart from the occasional shift for Pippin if he gets surprised. I think they just want to include Munchy, often more than he wants to be included.

We've left the boys with the vet and his student for their round of swabs, and are currently back home for a cup of tea because the process will take about 45 minutes. Jokingly tried to convince my housemate that I'd left them for good but funnily enough she didn't believe me.

All the swabs came back clear, so it they have any tricho still it's the normal background levels that are too low to pick up.
Got water hygiene reiterated to me, and an emphasis on drying the bowls. I have no objection to taking a tea towel to the bowls to dry them, but I have two days worth of bowls anyway, so they always dry before I use them again. Short of taking the Milton or a soaking of white vinegar to them I'm not sure what else I can do.
I have a couple of small drinking fountains which at least shouldn't get the water soiled, but I feel they'd be harder to clean thoroughly than a ceramic or glass bowl anyway.

I have the F10 spray, which I use on the drinking things and his food pots. I spray the drinking fountains (yes he has two), but don't dry them as I just wash, spray replace daily. The food pots, I wipe the standing platform bit, but when his cage is done once a week, they get the full blown F10 treatment.

I'm glad they got the all clear.
I use F10 too. I change the water pot everyday and disinfect with F10 ready for the next day. I don't disinfect the food pots so often but they only have dry food in them so less risky.

Thanks both. I'll place an order for some F10 over the weekend.

I buy the F10 concentrate and dilute it myself rather than buying the spray.

Yuki has taken one look at the drinking bottle and turned away in marshmallowy disgust. He never took to drinking from bottles as a chick though.

I do think the Milton, F10 or vinegar route is your safest way to go. I don’t change the water pots every day, but I do have a couple of ceramic ones for out of the cage and these go into the dishwasher every night. I agree that the little water fountains can be hard to get to the bottom/top of if they have that silly pointy bit. Luckily that is the bit that doesn’t actually hold the water once they are tipped up the right way.
PS. Glad they all got the all clear at the vets. 👍

Yeah, kinda thought hot water and washing up liquid would be enough but I guess not. I might as well start with Milton seeing as we have that in the house. Think I'll sterilise all the food and water utensils and I might as well do the fountain they like bathing in by running it with sterilising fluid. Then everything can have a thorough rinse and dry. ffiscool criswell You use the F10 every day when you change the water? I've ordered some concentrate and will dilute it in a spray bottle. Is it white vinegar you use, Hezz? At what concentration? Thanks everyone!

Yes, each day I use the pot I sterilised the day before. Once sterilised I leave them to dry and then store them in a plastic box ready for the next day. It's says on F10SC to leave to dry rather than rinsing off, but I do give the pots a quick rinse when I fill them up.

Then rinse it totally and spray the places where there are grooves or joins, with the F10. I Pat dry with paper towel I also have the F10 wipes, do all toys/cage bars gets cleaned with those. Toys daily, cage once a week, on the bars,

Dang... I've used washing up liquid for all of their cleaning for years and this has only recently been a problem.
Guess I'll be spritzing everything from now on. Wash it as normal and then a spray and leave it to dry.

I do the same. I also clean their drinking bowls every night with the F10 diluted solution in a spray bottle. I buy the F10 concentrate and dilute it myself rather than buying the spray.
