I'll definitely do that when we're home.
When we're at work maybe I'll have to put out enough food that he'll be able to graze rather than eat everything in one go. Maybe I'll need to pop him in the Vision when we're at work so his food won't be disturbed.

Between the two of you, how long would be the longest he would need to go without, if you don’t leave him too much out? If it is only a few hours, you could leave him some seed and fresh veg, but only enough seed for a small feed, not a full top up where he is inclined to over-eat. Not sure that makes sense to anyone else but myself!

No, that makes sense to me, Hezz. We're either both out at work or one of us is home all day, bar perhaps a couple of hours if we're doing more than a grocery shop. OH works for 8 hours, and he has the shortest hours of the two of us. 😕 They ignore pieces of veg most of the time now, because we can't leave it in during a work day, when they'd usually eat it because we're not around to beg and they're in rather than flying around everywhere. I'm greatful that they at least eat their chop voraciously, a small amount anyway.

I’m not sure what else I can suggest. For my pudgie budgies I take out their seed in the morning and give them fresh grass, so that’s what they feed on during the day, getting their seed back in the evening, only. The grass doesn’t go off, it just dries out if it is really hot. I’ve tried to think of an alternative to the grass that you could use, coming up blank, unless you could try growing your own??

I don't know either.
This is why grass is awesome. I keep forgetting to give them what I grow from their seed.
I might be able to grow grass indoors at this time of year, and possibly get hold of multiple species. Not sure if I can keep a constantly available cycle of grass, but I could try. Anything's worth a shot, because once they finish their food they're stuck with nothing on a work day.
Edit: This is why I like putting in live herbs. Feels like they're less likely to go bad. If I can keep enough edible foliage alive then I might be able to put plenty in to nibble at.
