He does, Marianne Marlow, more than the others at least, especially if you let him near a running tap. Though he's always drunk a lot from a tap. His droppings have been weird for a long time, but there's no bacteria in them at least. Not that shouldn't be there anyway. I'm loathe to put him through other investigations.

It's a difficult choice about further investigations as chances are there won't many treatment options available as budgie treatments are still quite limited. You might confirm that he has kidney and/or liver issues but even then there isn't a huge about that you can do apart from dietary changes which you could do anyway.

Sulfatrim, criswell. 0.01ml twice a day for 7 days. Yeah, exactly. They might as well just tell me what I can do to support him if he does have organ issues that won't hurt him if he doesn't. I gave him his first dose and he feels all swollen up the top of his chest. I assume that's his crop. Not sure how far down their crops extend, they always look huge on baby birds when full, but he hadn't had all that much to eat.

That's the same dose Dexter had. Randolph Carter had 0.2ml because he weighed about twice as much.
I can see Dean Stockwell's crop as he's almost bald down the front. It doesn't extend down ever so far. I'll try to get a picture after he's had his supper as he always fills up before bed.

If there is no obvious reason for his vomiting sporadically, and he is on milk thistle for liver disease, I suggest you increase his dosage and see if this makes any difference. It may take a while to work out whether it is helping or not, with the vomiting being so on and off. When Misty was having this same issue - vomiting with no obvious reason, the vet suggested that it may be part of his fatty liver issue. I added only one extra drop to the 100 mls and this did seem to fix his problem. After some time I dropped it back to the three drops and he was fine, so possibly his liver was not coping well over the vomiting period and just needed that extra little bit of support.
When he was vomiting, and this sounds rather different to how Munchy is (but then their diets were different as well), Misty looked rather miserable at the time, a little sleepy afterwards but otherwise you wouldn’t have known that he had been so miserable such a short time before.

Thank you, Hezz. I hadn't even been doing 3 drops per 100ml yet, so I'll up it to that today. If I had to describe Munchy when vomiting, he's very... 'polite' for the most part. There is very little drama to it. Occasionally he'll shake his head and scatter it sideways, but most of the time it's like he does the regurgitating head motion and then just opens his beak and lets it fall out. As opposed to the one time Yuki vomited and you could see that he was super irritated by it.

Last dose of antibiotics tomorrow morning.
So Munchy appears to have slow crop, due to the way his crop seems to enlarge throughout the day. This could be caused by the bacterial infection, though this seems unlikely because it's no better when we're nearly at the end of the course. So his bacterial infections are probably caused by the food sitting in his crop for too long. The vet did say there seemed to be a malformation to his crop. If that's the case then he'll probably keep developing infections.

Is there anything else he could have, that breaks down the food in his crop

Not sure, ffiscool. I'm going to email the vet to ask some questions, such as what could be done for different potential causes, because there seems no point getting an actual diagnosis if there isn't actually anything that can be done.

Poor Munchy, are you giving him ACV Ira, this could help with with his crop issues.

Ask the vet if he would benefit from smaller amounts of food but more often. I know you do what you can, and it would be hard to monitor with work hours. Just trying to think of ways to help him empty his crop fully between feeds, like young birds are supposed to do.

I am, skysmum. 1tsp per 500ml. Good idea, Hezz. I'd probably have to separate him for meals and work days. On work days I could possibly give him the bulk of his food in the morning, and it's dry, maybe there's something I could put on it. Or if I get his portions of dry food ready then maybe my housemate wouldn't mind swapping them for me.

Poor Munchie. I hope the vet does have some suggestions to help his crop.
