Poor Munchy George used to vomit up seed sometimes, but was perfectly fine afterwards. I think it was that he was eating loads so that he could feed two hens but then when Polly died he was just feeding Lucy. Same things happened after Lucy passed and he wasn't feeding anyone anymore.

Aww, poor George. Habits died hard, love him.
Munchy seems pretty stable otherwise so although I'm worried I'm not worried about uncovering him to find the worst in the morning, so to speak, although he is getting on a bit. So hopefully I'll get a reply to my email tomorrow. If not by midday then I'll phone in the afternoon and see if the vet can at least call me back between tasks.

Oh no, poor little Munch! How frustrating when it seemed like he was over it. I hope that the vet is able to get him started on the other antibiotic soon Ira . Get better soon little chap. At least I'm on annual leave so I can get to the vet any day this week except Thursday morning, even if it has to be a public transport affair. I did think to myself that you’re on leave this week but not really what you want to be dealing with. It’s so stressful when we have unwell animals. I hope you won’t need to make the journey to the vets but being off work certainly means it’s easier. I have to admit, we usually book appointments for when hubby is on annual leave as it’s just so much simpler.

Poor Munchy; that is a real concern. Hopefully the other AB’s fix whatever it is that is his problem.

It's just a shame that OH probably won't be able to get the time off and the car, unless we can go up after he finishes work perhaps.

The vet said I could either try the other course of antibiotics or bring him in for further investigations, as we don't know if the bacterial overgrowth is the cause or a symptom. I've decided on the antibiotics because it makes more sense to me to see if that resolves the issue, plus any further investigations will likely require anaesthetic.
So she's prescribing those and leaving them with reception for me to collect later. OH is arranging to borrow the car after work, so at least that saves me the public transport, or asking a taxi driver if they'll wait 5 minutes for me to pick up the medicine and take me back.

How is he today Ira? How was he after he was sick? did he seem tired, or just normal?

Just normal, Marianne Marlow. He was sick after they'd been covered up for the night so he was snoozy. Though if he's been chronically unwell it's hard to tell if it's that or his age that makes him less active on a day to day basis. But he's happy and chatty, eats and drinks as normal, etc.

Sounds like he's doing okay (for his age) then. You'd know what his normal behaviour was like.

I'm sorry Muncy has vomitted again. It's good that you can just pick up the antibiotic without taking him in. I hope it does the trick. Which one has been prescribed? My boys had sulfatrim they last time they needed antibiotics.
Talking of gaviscon type medication... when Criswell was vomiting our vet prescibed zantac which seem to help. Zantac was always part our rabbits treatment when they had stasis too, and emeprid (metoclopramide) which is good for getting their gut moving again.
Dexter and Randolph Carter both had emeprid as an anti-emetic when they had vomitting. RC had his orally for a few days and Dexter had an injection I think.
I really hope Muncy is all better soon xx

Marianne Marlow yes, but his 6 months away from me does also feel like it's thrown me off. I can't tell if the white liquid droplets on the floor are from being sick or just really water droppings. The curse of not being in the room to witness things. (Being held captive by madam.) Thank you, criswell. I'm not sure which one it is, I'll let you know when I pick it up. An hour and a half until OH finishes work. On brighter news, he just got offered a new job again.

Billy does sometimes leave runny white droppings on the floor. He has liver and kidney issues, so it could be that. Does Munchy drink a lot of water too?
