Lovely photos. Our first budgie, Criswell was friends with our gerbils too although I was always to anxious to let him play with them. He used to sit me and watch the gerbils when they were out to play.

Patch and Eeyore are boys, definitely. But as for Squeak, looks very henny in the photos you posted! Of my 4 girls, two are cagebound as they cannot fly, one (Penny) was used as a breeder until the age of 5 years old (not by me!) and the other has french moult (Lyra). The other two, Daisy and Iris came as a set of four with Colin and Billy. I must have been mad to rehome 4 at once as they were a nightmare to settle in and are still the most trouble at night time. They sort of act as a flock within a flock and spend lots of time together. Iris is a lot of trouble, she bashes seed pots up and down, tries to tip the water bowls over and is a general horror. At the moment she is at the top of the curtain biting it. Here were the little flock of four earlier:

Four newcomers at once! I felt frazzled with just two new budgies.
Squeak's behaviour, different from the other budgies in several ways, and his lack of a singing voice - all he can manage is two kinds of squeak, hence his name - make me question his gender sometimes. However, there is definitely blue in his cere, a transition from the lilac/purple had had a month ago, and I am confidently hopeful he is in fact a boy. I hope.

Hate to break it to you, but hens can have light blue ceres.. Boys are a deeper blue. Lyra.

Hate to break it to you, but hens can have light blue ceres.. Boys are a deeper blue. Lyra. Thanks for the warning, I will prepare myself! Squeak's cere is very like Mr Hibs' in colour and shade and his cere colour transition from young is following Eeyore's very closely - at one time Eeyore's gender was in doubt, too! I shall nevertheless brace myself for interesting news in the future.

If Squeak starts biting the curtains or kicking seed out of the troughs, I'd start to worry for your sanity!

Just an observation today. Young Squeak doesn't have a singing voice, or in fact any voice other than a high-pitched squeak. He's asleep now but I can hear his call interspersed with Mr Hibs' long and involved babble ... which means Hibs has incorporated Squeak's squeak into his repertoire. That's very sweet.

Unless Squeak is talking in this sleep. I've often seen my boys chattering in their sleep. It is cute though if Mr Hibs has incorparated Squeaks call.

Sleep-talking is possible but I was deliberately observing Squeak at the time. He was head-under-wing fast-a-byes. Really sweet.
Just watched Eeyore and Chocobo in a foot race, he was chasing Chocobo out of the lounge. I hadn't the heart to remind them both that they have, ah, wings 😂
These guys are impossibly enetertaining 😁

I think flying uses a lot more energy than running.
Your guys really are entertaining and I'm enjoying hearing about them.

Thank you, criswell ! If I had the camera equipment for it, I could easily make a web-based comedy-drama from the material they give me. Just now, Patch was on a perch being flanked by Hibs and Eeyore. All three of them were attempting to preen Patch at the same time, it was comical. Until the temper tantrums, of course.

I had no idea how amazing budgies were until I had one. We took in an unwanted budgie that our neighbour was threatening to release. Within a few days I was hooked.
