Sun-worshipper. Assisting with the daily Brown Jenkin clean-up operation. Chocobo is fascinated when I perform this task. The play-gym has been immensely popular with everyone. Peek-a-boo. The disappointment of an empty plate ... Can be assuaged by the kindness of friends, assuming they are willing to regurgitate for you. Mr Hibs and Squeak.

I had no idea how amazing budgies were until I had one. We took in an unwanted budgie that our neighbour was threatening to release. Within a few days I was hooked. I can see myself wanting to rescue budgies in the future. In a past life I rescued Bedlington terriers. That felt very rewarding in more ways than one.

We've had a lot of rescue gerbils and hamsters, 2 rabbits and then budgies. It's really nice to be able to give them a new life and make them happy.

Some of the fun so far today: The budgies had a meeting about whether salad cress was to remain on the main - vote passed, yes it should. No vote was felt necessary regarding basil plants. Savage. This was taken instants before Chocobo leapt, against my advice, into Gerbil Thunderdome. Two pets enter, one pet leaves. (No injuries nor even contact was made but Brown Jenkin made his position clear about boundaries and property.) Hibs and Eeyore, being herbivores. Does Chocobo like kale? In fact, Chocobo is a kale thief. Sneaking it out from under the senior budgies' noses.

Well done Chocobo! She's my kind of bird, but I prefer chocolate biscuits and lattes.

This was lovely while it lasted. Unfortunately, Mr Hibs has gone all David Banner / The Hulk on me today. He's been a terror to Eeyore, launching himself whenever Eeyore gets close to Squeak and plenty of times when he hasn't. In the end, I had enough and did something I've not done in a long time, I grabbed Mr Hibs and placed him in jail. Hibs is doing his utmost to become unlovable and I want to nip this in the bud. Eeyore is a forgiving soul and visited his banged-up mate. Mr Hibs of course went for his feet in a big way. Despite this, Eeyore and Patch again visited the irascible so-and-so. They are a lot more forgiving than I am. Chocobo is delighted with the mayhem of course as this takes the focus off of her throwing things off of my bookcase - including a glass candle holder I'd had for twenty of more years but alas, no longer. It's a madhouse, A MADHOUSE! /charltonhestonmoment

I let Hibs back out because everyone was agitating to have him back. So far, so good budgie-wise but Chocobo just flying-tackled Hibs and clattered him off of where he was perching. He is unharmed, thankfully. At some stage in the proceedings today, Patch's remaining long tail-feather had the end of it crimped. The list of suspects is long and I am not happy. I simply cannot wait for birdy bedtime today. They are all of them tripping on goofballs today.

And now I have all four of them clustered around a seed stick acting like nothing has happened. Even Chocobo in the background is calm. They are messing with my head.

The dynamics of a budgie flock are very complicated! I'm glad calm has been restored for a while at least.

Phrases I did not expect to use today:
"Chocobo, put down the knife!"
My fault for leaving it out. No harm done.
