I had to remove a lot of the oats from the Trill - too much in my opinion. And they were the first thing these two go for, but particularly Sparky. I still leave some in but as I was trying to reduce Smudge's weight (still am, ongoing process), oats are apparently high fat. Is this true? Marianne, I did that too. Misread, thinking BB needs Specsavers!

Anyone know what the yellow blobs are in Trill nowadays? I'm sure they didn't used to be there and Frankie ignores them, so they get wasted....I wondered whether they were dried egg?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread to ask my question, but it seemed better than posting a new one - anyone got any answers?

I feed versele laga! £24 for 20 kg sack and I have no clue as to whats in it. I suppose the vits in these other mixes must be sprayed onto the seeds or something, as these seeds do not actually contain the vits claimed to be in the mix. So if the birds are dehusking, are they actually taking in these vits? Or do the vits come in the yellow pellets in the trill that the budgies never seem to want to eat? And if the seeds are coated in the vit supplement, just how much of this supplement can they actually injest by dehusking? Not alot for sure. I don't know if versele add any vits to the seeds, but if the diet is well supplemented with veg anyway I won't worry too much whats in the seeds as long as they are clean ;-)

In my opinion the most important vitamin your bird can get is D3. This is the vitamin that is produced by exposure to the sun. As our birds are native to Australia they would naturally get a lot of sun. We keep our birds inside so they need supplementing. This is not a vitamin they can get from food. It is in Trill but a lot of seed does not contain it.
