Oh Sam, I laughed so hard! What's the saying - the biggest trees in the forest fall the hardest!?!? ;D That's immediately what I thought! All seems to be going well with the walking. No limping so far and each day a little longer. Tommorrow will be back to a full length walk as long he is okay today, and everything is fine so far. He so badly wants to have a run around, but tough luck, Mac. Cruel to be kind, I have to remember that. LOL! He is worried his street cred is severely damaged, but at least it proves he is still human ;D Glad all is going well with the walking - like you said a bit at a time to see how he improves Fingers crossed he will be back to his usual bouncy self in no time. Oh and Stace I thought Huntsman spiders were like this: And WHOEVER in that picture was idiotic enough to hold one I shall never know. I'd rather hold a tarantula!

My photo was taken from around 4 metres away at night...he was ginormous. The worst is when you're driving the car and pull the sun visor down and AHHHHHHHHH!!!! There's one gigantic mother splayed out inches from your face. People die when this happens, you know. It is much much more distracting than talking on a mobile phone while at the wheel.

This is great news Hezz, my Tilly has finally stopped limping, back leg ligament, three months , we are back on to off lead ball chucking sessions, fingers grossed. Its so hard when they are a bit manic, Tilly JRT, is ball mad and even on the lead she was dancing around me saying, Go on chuck the ball, chuck the ball, WHY DON'T YOU CHUCK THE B..... BALL ;D

Oh, Skysmum, yes, I can relate to that! Mac isn't ball-crazy - I wish he was in a way as it makes for easy exercise - but he does love to run! I sometimes wonder if there isn't a bit of greyhound in him, being so lean and loving to run. He is quite strong although he doesn't look it, and will pull me side-ways if he decides something over THERE is more interesting than where I am walking, and I'm not ready for it. His manners were getting pretty good but with the restricted exercise, his youth and exuberant nature, he is being a handful on a walk at times.
How did Tilly pull a ligament? Three months is a long time to play the devil when it comes to exercise!

We not entirely sure to be honest Hezz but we think it was a particularly energetic ball session, if she gets to the ball when it bounces back into the air she hurls herself up to catch it mid flight and we think she landed awkward. However being a JR she will dive up onto a chair and see anyone off that dares to walk past the window so it could have been that. They thought it was a Luxating Patella at first, little dogs are prone to this, where the knee joint keeps slipping but ruled that out thank goodness. Its been a long process since Christmas because each time we thought she was ok and started off lead runs she started limping again so it been a bit start stop. Hopefully she's ok now its been a couple of weeks without limping, fingers crossed.

That would be a pain for all concerned! Poor Tilly. You just never know what can happen, or when it can happen! After Mac's Xrays I realised I had been doing all the wrong things without realising it. If we had known his leg had been broken to start with I wouldn't have been letting him off for romps with other dogs and jumping him over small fences, in and out of the back of the Hilux etc, etc!!! Just trying to burn off some of the excess energy as our weather was so on and off at the time. But seemingly no damage (long-term) done, and just need to keep him under control for another 3-5 weeks. Not much, if you say it quickly!!! Thanks, Mick! Another shorter walk this afternoon and all still well, seemingly. Just have to make it through the next month. It's hard for both of us!

Glad to hear that he is improving Hezz, do you have any pics of your little bouncy doggie? Would love to see what he looks like! That is - if you can get him to sit still long enough to take a pic

The trouble is, especially with Terriers, they have a high pain threshold and will carry on regardless, its only when we have a visual picture with them that we know there is a problem i.e limping. I blame myself for Tilly's lengthily recovery because i kept thinking she was ok when she hadn't limped for a couple of days and let her off lead which bought me back to square one again. Its all very frustrating, if it had been my previous dog Tess the Beagle there wouldn't have been a problem, she was quite happy to play the couch potato roll, and would often groan when i got the lead out. ;D Labs never grow up Hezz, my daughter had two years of hell with hers, she almost gave him up when he destroyed the kitchen for the third time he is five now and has settled lovely in the house but still has his bum tuck moments when of lead.

Hi, Sam. I don't have any action shots of Mac, only lazy-dog shots! I will have to take the camera with me once his rehab time is up. He is a typical lazy lump around the house, but walks are a different story! Poor kitchen, Skysmum! I think I would be turfing him outside before the second one went in! Mac did take to our shoes very early, but I have been providing him with a constant supply of large bones, and that seems to be keeping his jaws under control. I usually walk him while everyone and their dogs are still in bed - so much easier! The afternoons and this morning walk (a bit later than usual) with other dogs about, he is going completely crazy trying to reach them to have a romp. He has to learn that not all dogs are good fun! Even after a broken leg, he still doesn't get that?!?! But no limping still so that is great.

Thanks, Marianne. Already it is hard to keep him from running around the back yard. A trot about would be fine, but no, he has to want to jump and run full tilt! Lazy-dog photos:
