Sweetheart Joey - it's all strange just now but hang in there - you're going to have a ball!

So glad this has all worked out for everyone, but mostly for Joy. Here's hoping he and Charlie get to be friends. Now budgiepop, don't go; stay and join in the forum and we would love to get to know your other budgies.

Hello lovely people, I've been reading all your posts, and I'm so pleased dazandloz has given a new and great home to little Joy. It is strange not having him around, but I know I done what is best for him and when he's ready to meet Charlie I'm sure he'll be over the moon to have a new friend My other two (Darling and Gregory) have got back to their usual routine, and Gregory seems pleased that he has no male competition any more! Big Thanks to Darren for giving Joy a new life and taking great care of him! x

Hi guys. Joy has settled in quite well, and on Monday as a little treat for travelling so well, he was given a whole millet spray, which was demolished by the next morning! I have filled his food tray that hangs from the cage side, and I have given him a small dish of food on the floor, just to see what he prefers most. All of my other birds eat from floor dishes which are out of the way of any droppings coming from above branches etc. budgiepop did you give his water in the other cage tray? I use water feeders with my others, but filled both just in case. The water level in the tray hasn't moved but the water feeder has gone down a little, so he appears to be using that. He is chirping away calling out to the others in the next room, and they are reciprocating back, so he seems eager to be with them. I'll try and get some photos on here soon guys. He is still nervous when I put my hand near the cage, be it for water/seed change, and I have this morning removed his mirror, as he would sit on that all the time, and with it having a thin plastic perch it isn't good for his feet. At the weekend I will replace all of the temporary wooden perches for natural apple branches, but I have already made him a swing using a piece of apple branch! All in all I think he has done well so far, he's eating and drinking, interacting with the others in the next room, so I have high hopes for him. His colour is absolutely gorgeous, and hopefully when we move house and get a proper outdoor bird house and flight made, maybe late next year (2015) I can look at getting him paired.

Hi Darren, I was delighted to read about Joy, the new addition to your budgie family, glad things worked out for the little guy, you have a kind heart as I found out a few weeks back when you helped and gave me advice. He will be well and truly looked after and cared for.
