Hi Jean. I hope your two are doing well. I love your avatar photo I read about the eye issue but couldn't advise as I haven't encountered anything like this so far. I hope that it all clears up and soon. Regarding Joy, if the bird is close enough to me then I will help someone. When one of the regular posters posted that he was having to give up his birds, I was seriously contemplating going up to Scotland to get them, but the journey would've been to far for them. I have the room for them, and when we move I will dedicate a large area for the siting of a new outdoor aviary and bird room, which will have space for breeding. The house we have offered on has a large garden so space shouldn't be an issue. The wife wants chooks too, so I hope we have understanding neighbours!

Hi Darren, its lovely to hear from you. The boys are an absolute joy, as lively as can be, the only time the house is quiet is when they go to bed, and as soon as they're in bed I can't wait until the morning to see them again. Ben's eyes have cleared up fine, I put the optrex in for a few night and it seemed to do the trick. Hope everything goes well with the new house, and your wife gets her chooks, just supply your neighbours with earplugs, hehe. Good luck with everything you have planned for the future. Best wishes Jean

Hello Darren, Great to hear an up-date on Joy! It sounds like he's settling in well. He's strange with hands - he gets nervous when hands come anywhere near him, but if you actually pick him up he quickly becomes quiet and calm and he has never once bitten me. Yes, especially the colour on his back is lovely isn't it? A slightly blue green... He definitely prefers the water feeders, yes. He had that in his last cage before I moved him into the larger one you have now, and although I tried to make him more civilised and feed form the feeder in that cage I think he'll prefer the floor too! haha Which is a good job if that's how you have things set up already I'm really excited for him getting into a big flight cage with lots of others - I'm sure he'll love it! You'll have to keep me posted at each stage of his journey, please! Thanks again so much, and look forward to hearing more soon H. x

Hi Hazel. I will update regularly, but if you don't hear anything for a while and you would like an update, then please just drop me an email and I will reply. Due to my job there are sometimes when I get no time to do what I want or to log onto all of my forums etc, so I wouldn't mind at all. The birds in your avatar photo are gorgeous. I would love to see a better photo. Kind regards Darren

Thank again, Darren. I'll await your update Understand work can sometimes take up more time than we wish, so I wont worry if I don't hear anything for a while. For now, good luck with the new home/the move and all your feathered friends! H.x

Well, this Monday coming will see the 4 weeks quarantine period finished. However, I have seen no issues with Joy (now Joe, sorry Hazel) and so I will introduce Joe with Charlie tomorrow (23/5) and see how they react to each other. I will allow them both to fly and meet on neutral territory, but will leave Charlie's cage open and see what happens. Fingers crossed!

Here's a photo of Joe meeting Charlie, and then he goes INSIDE Charlie's cage, cheeky little monkey! I let them both out into the bird room, and after a while of sitting on top of the main flight, Joe decides that Charlie's cage is much bigger and has more toys than his own one, and promptly let himself in, lol.
The first photo I took with my iPhone and is poor, the second was with my Canon DSLR, much better.

Hello Darren! This is amazing to see! Looks like he and Charlie might get along well then? Joe is such an enthusiastic little boy. The way you described him jumping into Charlie's cage sounds very familiar indeed! Hoping Charlie will be a little more accommodating than my Gregory was to him though ...aw, so nice to see him. He looks fab and very happy! Well done you. H.x

Hi Hazel. Charlie has had to tell him off a few times, but then Joe gave back as good as he got, so I think they're pretty even. It's clean out day tomorrow so I will rearrange the cage for a fresh start. More photos to come!

I have noticed that when first introducing a newbie to the flock they will sit around and pull this similar pose to daz's first photo. It looks like they have this "I'm showing I am not a threat" kind of thing going, where they will sit there with their eyes half-closed, not invading each others' space.

Thanks guys, Charlie's having a fly around the bird room at the mo but Joe has stayed in the cage. He clearly knows a good thing when he sees it, lol
