This evening, when I arrived home from hospital, I peered quietly into Fluffy Grey's nest-box and, once she and Charlie had moved out of the way, bingo! The first little chick was sat sitting there! Wow. I had forgotten just how tiny they were as it's more than 40 years since I last bred a budgie. So.. keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well for Fluffy Grey and Charlie. Life has not been a bowl of cherries for the last few weeks so it was great to see something to cheer us up. Can't wait to tell my mother when I see her tomorrow...  |

Hope all goes well with Fluffy Grey's and Charlie's chick. How many eggs has she laid? Sorry you are not having a terrific time atm, Learner. Am glad the budgies were able to lift your spirits a little. |

I guess it's safe to uncross my fingers now?
Fluffy Grey and Charlie have done pretty well. Two eggs hatched and fed successfully!
Today the toddlers came indoors to meet my mother as I needed to change the tray in their nest-box. Snuggly settled on sheets of kitchen roll at the bottom of an empty ice-cream box they behaved well.

They are gorgeous, Learner!!!!!  With the white paper towels and the fluffy down they look they have been snowed on! I think I have chicklet envy. |
