I googled Tricho treatments and they seem to have metronidazole in them. I think even Tricho plus does.

We are not Vets, Avian or otherwise. If you have any serious doubts about your budgies' health an appointment with an Avian vet should always be your first point of call.

No worries! It's just I have had a bit of a previous history with vets I am a tad sensitive!

Well I left him in the travel cage covered up whilst I prepared his hospital cage and he was a bit groggy no doubt from his pain killer

Have put something soft underneath his newspaper on the floor so he can rest warmly and comfortably

Have put everything low down for him i.e soft food and his GA water. Have covered him up all day to let him sleep and try and recuperate.

Have heard him eating

and he has just this minute given a little tweet

No other sickness since he had his meds administered.

Will check him in the morning

I went into a bit of a panic too, wondering if they had sent you away with Baytril. It wouldn't hurt to get some Tricho Plus and give the others a weeks course in the meantime though.

It is AGY that you don't want antibiotics for, being as it is a yeast, not a bacteria. Trich is a parasite very similar to that which causes STD's in humans. Sam, the links below give some good info, if you were looking to know a bit more. It seems to me that Alfie must have had this underlying all the time and the iodine deficiency and stress of it all has allowed the trich to raise its ugly head. Did the vet give you any feedback along those lines???
