Back from vet and we have a diagnosis! It is Trichomoniasis (nice one Marianne Marlow) and the stuff he brought up is like a very smelly creamy lumpy cheese Vet didn't need to do anything other than see my evidence pics and smell him and see the side of his beak is now swollen. Good news is that he may have a better chance than most because he hasn't got so critical they cant treat him. We have come away with pain killer and antibiotics PLUS she advised me I can ALSO use Guardian Angel in his water. Cooled mashed potato and porridge are great as he needs something soft to eat as he is sore but as long as I can get him to eat then that is the main thing. Also I asked if she would kindly administer the first lot today as I would like to get him home and settled asap when we get back so that I dont have to man-handle him anymore and he can rest. Nice lady vet Rachael did this and gave him glucose in the mix as well to build him up a bit I cant tell you how hopeful I am now to how I was this morning as I was half expecting to have him PTS as he looked so bad. Thank you all for well wishes, I will be taking him back in a week for check up and further meds providing he is progressing. So a sort of PHEW(ish)

Aw. Poor little Alfie. I hope that the meds you were given cure him quickly.
I think that Tricho is contagious, did the vet say anything about that?

Phew is right! So happy that Vet Rachael was able to make the diagnosis quickly and without a lot of stress to Alfie. She sounds terrific! Now, Alfie, take your medicine like a good boy, and you will feel better in no time. Sam, I think you and Alfie deserve a nap. Job well done.

You're right Marianne Marlow it is highly contagious and yes the vet did advise that hygiene is extremely important - rigorous hand washing when dealing with each set of buds and I did inform her we use F10 for cleaning which she said is brilliant Thanks budgiefriend Have settled Alfie in for his nap so I think I am just about to do the same thing! Fingers crossed from here on in That's a good one ffiscool I might just have to do that! It will certainly up the OH when he spies baby food on our shopping list lol! Thanks again everyone I am so glad to know you all xx

Ohh my goodness sam, things have taken a nose dive since i last read, poor Alfie Now im not a vet but i didn't think anti b's were given for Tricho, also as Marianne said if it is that all your buds will need a course of Tricho plus and everything that he has been in touch with sterilised
