Hey Sorry Marianne Marlow I have been soooo busy today, but managed to get on to give a quick update We are still here and still fighting! No vomiting which is good however he is very quiet but calm which I am happy about. I did administer his meds this morning which he took like a lamb - he did the usual complaints and beak avoidance but I think I am getting used to how its done which helps make it quicker and stress free for the little guy. I did also got some luke warm water so that I could gently clean off some of the caking gloop that was round his feathers and the side of his face and check his swelling at the sides of his beak. They are still sore but not as inflamed and I think he even enjoyed a bit of mummy care/preening bless him. I could feel the stickiness coming off as I gently teased the feathers with wet finger and thumb. I also dried him off so that he wasn't sopping wet and had very little to dry out so he doesn't get chilled at all. The things we do eh? But despite him being quiet he is resting and I swear he is getting better. Am still praying tho!

Are we allowed to swear on here. We all hope he is getting better. You are doing a tremendous job with him. It sounds like you are getting a very strong bond with, even stronger that you had before. Come on Alfie.

sounding good Sam.. good boy Alfie.. I think they know when the NEED help too.. years back mine who wouldn't let me hold him, did, when he was sick.
Bailey now after a sticking out feather flight, lets me put my hand round him.. only for a second though.. he knows I am caring for him.

I was hoping someone would do that as I am posting from my phone and it took me a decade to get the pic up there as it was! So thank you OP I don't think it's meds Marianne Marlow i think it's his swollen face but he is now jumping round the cage complaining and having a flap?!!!! Go figure?!

He does look in a sorry state there. Mind I think I would after what he's been through. He's soon perked up though. Good for him.

I was talking about his feathers Sam, they look sticky. Yeah you are right Marianne as I dont think I got all of the meds out of his feathers, but if you had only seen what he was like before, this picture is him looking rather respectable! He is eating well, drinking well and dare I say behaving a lot brighter so fingers crossed I believe we are on the way up Am a very happy budgie mum

Well, I think he is looking pretty good for a bird who has a sore face, has been vomiting and getting meds. Flagyl is very sticky stuff, and I never managed to get it all off Smudge's face, unfortunately. You might have better luck than I did; I am sure Alfie's feathers are in better health than Smudge's were. Coincidence or not, in the beginning, on the days when I did try to clean her up, it seemed that that day was not a good one, so I didn't do so as much as I wanted to. Have you tried drying him off with the hair dryer? If you have one, of course.

If I had one of those older versions then perhaps but as I am hair dressing training atm I now own one of those most powerful hair dryers known to man I do dry him off thoroughly tho as I only get his feathers wet He has his meds again and a face wash with mum and I think he is looking loads better. Alfie has his follow up appointment Tuesday next week, and they will no doubt give me another weeks worth of meds providing he is responding well to them. I am no vet by any means but I would happily say that even tho he is not 100%, he is 100% UP on what he was
