I'm afraid the guy was right. there is a lot of wi-fi signals floating about, interfering with each other. There are a couple of things that can be done. One is to have a repeater plugin socket like I have. It doesn't take over the socket it just relays the signal to the router. What the manufacturers could do is use the second band instead of cramming it all on the 2.4 MZ they could use the 5 GIGhz for some of their equipment. But that would add to the cost, on ly slightly though. I have a few dual band gadgets and it works well most of the time.

I had to return the spot and they’ve stopped making them now. Lots of issues it seems

How do you like your Echo Dot Marianne?
Think we got ours about the same time. Mine is in the living room for the birds.
My Alexa is in the kitchen for music while I work about. I love them.

I think it's great. I really just use it for the radio.

Someone on one of my FB bird groups made a photo of their two birds and one of these things with Alexa saying "I'm sorry, but I don't know when they will be home". It was cute ... wish I could find it again.

Just a follow up - the Echo dot is only £22 at the moment on Amazon.co.uk I got sucked in (again) & bought it for my mum. She received it today so I'll probably be tearing my hair out this weekend. Before, I wanted it as a replacement for a CD player, but this time I got it only for the radio feature.

I read through the entire thread - got a lot of useful information. So, like sweetpea I took the leap and ordered the Echo Show which is on sale in the USA for Cyber Monday. Right now I play jazz for my baby but I think he'll like easy listening better. Will try it - "Alexa play easy listening"!

I'm happy with my Echo Dot. I try and justify getting the Show (it's £49.99 at the mo) but I can't see how I'd use it when I already have a laptop.
I like not having to get up to change the station or switch off the radio. I like to leave music on for the birds when I go out, I listen to talk radio when alone.

I have a dot on my bedside cabinet. I just tell it turn the bedside light off and play some Classical Relaxing Piano. I set a sleep timer for 20 minutes so that it turns off after that time. I very, very rarely hear it turn off as I am fast asleep in that time.

My mum is up & running with Alexa for the radio! I did tear my hair out initially, trying to set it up as it just wouldn't connect, but a reinstall of the app seemed to do the trick. I have written out the instructions for her & told her to hold back on the please, thank you's & excessively long-winded, but polite, sentences..... Alexa, would you mind very much if you could find a Perry Como tune for me thanking you in advance for your help....
