One can say "please" & "thank you".

I'd actually never tried using please when asking Alexa things!
I think she'd just get confused and say "I'm sorry I don't understand."
I just tried it actually. I said "Alexa, can you please play talk radio" and she gave me a totally different station!

I said " Alexa, can you please play talk radio" and she gave me a totally different station! Try saying " alexa, play talk radio, please". I did wonder if that would make a difference. Not that she is a person, but some people don't acknowledge or notice a "please" at the beginning of a request.

I have my Echo Show up and running! Alexa is playing music from the 70's for Tweetie Pie right now. I need to do some more exploring to get to know how it operates and how to get it to do what I want.

I"m getting to know how to use Alexa better. The people who have programmed her have done an amazing job.Last night I told her "night, night" - couldn't resist. This morning I said "good morning" and she gave me a fun fact from this date and told me a joke. I have a smart plug that came with the Echo Show. I need to figure out how to use it. So is this just the beginning for me @op?

One thing I have noticed is that she no longer responds to "alexa, switch off" when the radio is playing. I have to say "alexa stop".

Mum is still getting to grips with basic echo dot. Today, I noticed she would ask the question then say 'Alexa' at the end (What's the time, Alexa?) & wonder why she was being ignored. Or she gets the order right but calls her Ailsa!!! Doh!

I've been trying a variety of music on Tweetie Pie - classical, hits from the 70's and 80's and he hasn't reacted too much to any of them. He did chill out a bit on the classical. This morning I asked Alexa to play Neil Diamond. He has been fluffed up and softly tweeting and singing all morning. Guess he likes Neil Diamond.

I do think that budgies tend respond to the type of music as in if its an up beat song. If you try pop songs my lot become more animated (especially when Coldplay are on) Should've known they would have gone for the married mans music
