Unless I'm mistaken,, which is quite likely, I think I see some millet heads in the two right hand side pots. They are hiding at the moment in amongst the grass. It could be a few weeks yet before you see proper millet. If this weather keeps going it won't be that long. The new lot looks unusual. Is it part in shade?

Oh I do hope they are starting to grow actual millet!! Weeks and weeks to grow and will be devoured in minutes. The new batch in the trough looks the same as what it did in the pots at the same stage. It's in the same area as the pots so gets sun almoat all day

I lost the plot a bit after Bezukhov & now I have a stinking cold that feels really weird in this hot weather! Anyway, I did two pots - one with drainage holes & one without & clearly the one with the drainage holes is fairing better. Not very tall though but I have taken my eye off the ball/pots.

I can understand that sweetpea *hugs* - COLD? In this weather? Hope you feel better soon! Tell me, did you catch your cold from Hezz? Sorry to hear about yours jellybean Shirls - I think Hezz was right with my millet, this particular strain is perhaps not a very good one so its not growing as it really should so perhaps that might be a possibility with yours? clt80 I am well gel! Have you been feeding them as well?!!! Well done you, I shouldn't be disappointed with that crop!

No millet for me yet. The three original pots have grown long and I've thinned them out. The new trough attempt is short but growing. How long until some millet appears??? That is really amazing clt80!! I take it you are growing all these outside? I might give it another go. But with this hot weather I am having to water all my pots of things otherwise they will die. I shan't be growing courgettes, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers next year if it's going to be like this all the time. (The cucumbers were by accident btw) found them growing in the garden so potted them up!!!

samwiseg Shirls the 3 pots I did ages ago at the start of this thread, so they have been growing for just ages and ages. I do water them every night but I don't feed them. I think it's just a waiting game, with the prize being millet (eventually)

These are my ones. I'm still watering them, even though my budgies wont eat them!

Wow, Marianne, you go from never having grown millet grass, to this 😀 Will none of your birds eat it? Could you cut a bunch and tie it together, wet it and hang it up like you would do with Basil, and they might be tempted that way. It's a shame it's turned out so well and you have no takers. My boys would be munching away on that 😁

I was thinking the same thing, Sam. Get them used to the pot being around and entice them to explore the scary green things.
