Does everyone agree that if I’m treating them both I can put them together? I’m wary?

I think I would seeing as: You only have two birds. The scaly face doesn't look too advanced. You're treating them both. But I'd deep clean everything after treatment has ceased. Hezz might have a different opinion!

Hezz might have a different opinion! No, Hezz doesn't have a different opinion. It is a bit of a nuisance having to go through with this, but scaly face isn't the worst that he could have, for sure. Dose them both for the three weeks required, and all should be fine from then on. helenmat, if you are uncomfortable with putting them together at this stage, go with your own feelings and even if you just wait an extra week, you could most likely not have to worry about dosing Eric for the whole three. It's your call, I feel.

I think we are going to leave him another week at least so we can see if it starts to clear up a bit so that we know we are on top of things. We can put more work into training on the up side.

Bit of an update. I decided to contact the pet centre we got him from because they seemed decent and I thought the other birds in the same cage may be affected.
This was their response: Hello thank you for messaging us about this, if you could bring him into the store we can take a look at him and can pop some treatment on him for you.
My reply: I’ve treated him and my other bird with Beaphar Anti-Parasite Spot On for small birds. I assume I need to keep new bird separate for another 4 weeks?
Their reply: Hi it would be ideal to keep them apart yes if you still wanted to bring him in we can use a slightly different treatment that goes onto the area that would work a little better but it would be up To you.
I have asked: Ok so long as you don’t think he will overdose on the second dose. It would be at the weekend. We did it last Sunday?
I am waiting a further reply. I think it is good of them to offer but the other thing is they are in Mansfield and I am in Sheffield. It takes about an hour to get there. Not sure if its worth stressing Archie out for.

I wouldn't bother, you're already treating him and that will be far less stressful for him, but yes it's good of them to offer

Yes I agree with everything thats been said from you helenmat, leave it another week to be sure the scaly is on its way out and no need to take him back to the pet store for treatment as you are doing all the right things anyway - you got it all under control. They perhaps thought that you were a novice keeper rather than an expert

I'm sorry you have had this set back with little Archie Helen However frustrating it is it really highlights the importance of full Quarantine which has given you time to act

Nice of the store to offer to treat Archie for you (hope they treat all their other buds as well) but since you have the gear, and being the trip that it is for you, I too, wouldn't bother with making the effort, but do it yourself at home.

Thanks everyone. My only frustration is that I can't now treat him with the treatment I have for another 3 weeks. I am not sure if all of the pipette came out of the nozzle to be quite honest. I really struggled to squeeze the tiny tube with my arthritic fingers. I wish Id bought the stuff that you put on every week, but at the time I thought I was treating as a precaution rather than for a problem. I daren't start him on something different now.

Oh ... that really is a nuisance, but can't be helped. As you say, it was to be as a precaution but hasn't turned out that way.

I too would be reluctant to try anything new too Helen Stick with what you know for now and try and be patient for another week!

Right slight change of plan. I have ordered this because I decided to get advice from my avian vet as the best thing to do. He said there would be no danger treating again next week (2 weeks after initial treatment) because of the fact that the first dose didn't come out properly and that Beaphar Anti-Parasite Spot On – Small (Canary/Budgie) is not as strong. They weren't wet after either so I don't think they got a full dose, like I said I struggled to squeeze the tube. I have also ordered some fresh F10 SC. We have brought Archie through from the living room though as I will still treat them both. Also I will have to disinfect everything so I might as well do it all together. Archie is bouncing about all over in his cage and Eric is just looking at him as if to say 'what the heck is this' Its all gone very quiet. Next Sunday my dads parrot is coming to stay so I would have to clear Archie out of the other room anyway so I did it this week when I have the time to see to everything properly. Im worn out, I feel annoyed that the initial breeder that sold Archie to the pet centre didn't treat his birds but I can't do anything about that now. Its the first time I have not got a bird directly from a BS breeder. I am now regretting that decision but never mind. Onwards and upwards.

I wouldn't regret the decision to get Archie from the BS breeder, I am not sure how many breeders/pet shops/personal sellers would have treated their bird with ivermectin before handing them over anyway. Luckily it's something that is easy to cure. Lemon's case was far worse and he was fine within 4 weeks.
