The boys slept well. Randolph Carter was very on edge when I woke them up but quite quickly settled down. There were a few more droppings under his swing than the past few nights and he was maybe a bit more settled over night. Dean Stockwell is totally full of beans and has been chasing everyone about this morning. I don't know if anyone has had a drink though.

Thank you blueelephant I've given them some millet spray which is a real treat as they don't usually have it but that should help put a bit of weight back on Randolph Carter. They are very unsure about the water and have been hopping about near the water pot. I've seen Dexter and Dean Stockwell poke their faces in the pot but I don't know if either have had a drink. Hopefully they'll have some.

Hi Criswell. Probably a silly idea, but I sometimes soak some seed and leave it overnight to shoot, Bertie loves it for breakfast. Maybe a last resort if they don't drink the water

I've not given them sprouting seeds before. I should give that a try even without the antibiotic. It's definitely something to think about if they don't drink the water. How do you soak your seeds - on kitchen paper or in a dish?

I rinse them a few times and give them a bit of a soak, then put them on wet kitchen paper in the bottom of a dish. This is what Dave the breeder used to give them in the morning so I just carried it on.

Dean Stockwell was a right nuisance at bedtime. He got himself settled on Randolph Carter's swing and after a little bit of fuss the other boys settle down with Randolph Carter on Dean Stockwell's swing, and Dexter couldn't get to his own swing so he got on the spare. Then as soon as the cover was on Dean Stockwell was off his swing and creating a fuss to get his own swing back so there was a reshuffle. Then after the light was off and the lounge door was shut Dean Stockwell was off his swing again making a fuss because he wanted to get back on Randolph Carter's swing again! When he saw I was back he got on his own swing and they all settled. I'm not surprised really as Dean Stockwell has been full of himself all day

Fun and games, glad he's seems a little better. Be careful with the sprouting seeds, Pip loves them but I don't know if it is because Pip has a lot of facial feathers but he gets them stuck at the sides of his beak and we then have to catch him and take them off with a pair of scissors as they get stuck. No matter how hard he tries he cannot move them.

Poor Pip. I'm sure he doesn't mind the inconvenience since he gets a delicious treat. Thanks for the advice suesbirdThe boys all slept well, better than they have in a week. I've seen all 3 have a drink this morning so they seem to have accepted the weird new water. I don't usually see them drink first thing so they must have been thirsty. RC is very perky this morning and busy chatting to the other two. He is so much less stressed now. He's been such a brave boy but 4 weeks of being caught twice a day was as much as he could cope with. It has made such a difference now we're not catching him. It's good that the others are being treated now too.

Good news, criswell. He must be feeling better to have a little gossip session with the other two.

Thank you everyone. I still feel quite on edge about how Randolph Carter is doing but he's much more relaxed now and that's the most important thing. He's had a good day and hasn't needed much nap time. They are all moulting so I've had a few days of feathers everywhere.
All 3 of them have been playing nicely together which doesn't happen the most often. Dexter and Dean Stockwell don't usually have much to do with each other but they both chatter and play with Randolph Carter. After a bit of squabbling they all managed to share a piece of millet spray.
Poor little Dean Stockwell was disgruntled at bedtime as Randolph Carter took his swing. He had his back to Dean stockwell facing the edge of the cage so there wasn't much Dean Stockwell could do about it. RC is quite immovable when he wants to be. So Dean Stockwell tried to steal Dexter's swing and got into a face war with him (trying to peck each other in the face), which I broke up. He then went to talk to his bell for a while before getting on to a spare swing. I expect he won't sleep well tonight, but tomorrow night he'll be up on his favourite swing at least half an hour before bedtime to make sure no one else gets it!
