I think all were probably pagan festivals of some sort. I know that Christians ‘adopted’ a lot of pagan festivals to encourage pagans to turn to Christianity but still have their festivals, so Yule became Christmas, Ostara Is Easter, Imbolc is Candlemas, etc. I’m not sure if it’s the same in other countries but the ancient Romans celebrated Saturnalia in December until Christianity and I’m pretty certain there was a similar sort of thing in Ancient Greece when they’d bring greenery into the home and have a celebration in December.

Gosh, I did t know any of that.
One of my nieces, her daughter is 7. Last week on night 1, she was telling my niece the story of Chanukah. And my sister in law asked her who the hero of the story was. She thought and answered ‘Jesus’

Gestational diabetes test is standard now, I had it too. Didn't end up having GA though. It all sounds so badly managed. I had no idea they kept phoning. I’d be fuming if I was sleeping a lot and kept being woken ( I can’t imagine how you coped with a toddler either Marianne Marlow). It’s good that lucozade is gluten free now Marianne. I remember when it used to be made with Barley. I had to have gestational diabetes tests at 28 weeks with all my four children as I had polyhydramnios and for the first three literally given a bottle of Lucozade to drink, but when I was expecting my fourth I had been diagnosed coeliac so they had to get glucose sugar and mix it into water instead.

Is it? I think that’s probably a good thing. I didn’t have it through any of my pregnancies either. My bumps were just baby, placenta and lots and lots of amniotic fluid. When my waters went with my eldest everyone in the line of fire was soaked! Obviously I didn’t know any different but the entire bed needing changing including my pillow! Luckily the midwives saw the funny side. My youngest was born en caul. I so wish I’d seen him in his sac but it was a very quick birth. Bless your niece ffiscool. I love the things children say when they get a little mixed up.

Not bad, thank you. It’s only when I walk about, I feel like I’ve run a marathon. I’m hoping this is it, I don’t know anyone else who got it after the booster. My step sister’s daughter had covid last week, had a cold to start, then it floored her. But she’d not been boostered. Tbh I’m more worried if I feel dire, how to sort Max. So I’m telling myself, it will be how it is now and not more

Hopefully it won’t get any worse and you can rest up and let it run its course. That’s it, think positively.

Sorry to hear that you and Eve have been unwell Marianne Marlow. How are you both feeling now? And how are you feeling ffiscoolI'm expecting a call from the contact tracers. I had a student round last night for a lesson and her lateral flow test was positive this morning. She was here for an hour and we both wore masks and kept more than a metre apart so fingers crossed. I've disinfected the table and surroundings and I've switched my other students back to online lessons. I've venitlated the house too. She's getting a PCR test today. My 2nd dose of vaccine was 6 months ago but I've not been called for a booster yet. I did a lateral flow test this morning which was negative but it's too soon for anything to show up if I have caught it from her. So I will wait and see. It's handy that my folks already cancelled their visit this weekend. I didn't have any plans to go any where much in the next few days so I won't mind isolating if I have to. It's much nicer staying at home in the warm.

I’m ok thanks, although I worked today. It was my last day so I felt I had to, but feel bleah now again.
I think you can book yourself in for a booster online!
I hope you’re ok and don’t get it. Open a window too
It’s scary eh

In Wales we have to wait to be invited for a booster. So I'm being patient I'm glad your not feeling too bad ffiscool Take it easy. I've had the windows open all day in my teaching room so it's been a bit chilly. I've disinfected my work table and the chair she sat on, and the door handles. It is a bit scary thinking that there probably is some covid virus lurking in my house. I'll do another lateral flow test tomorrow morning. There is a test centre up the road but it's drive in only so I'll only be able to go there when David's home from work. I'm undecided if I should wait until my student's PCR test has confirmed she is positive or if I should just book one anyway.

Ah ok. Thing is, if you unfortunately catch it, even if symptom free, you’ll be contacted as your student’s pcr will be logged. If she’s had a positive lateral flow, then she’s got it. Only negative lateral flows can be wrong. So you might as well. Just my experience of it and my thoughts.

I'd come to the same conclusion ffiscool. I've got a test booked for tomorrow evening.

I did my PCR test at 7.30pm last night and got a negative result at 6pm today I had a call from a contact tracer this afternoon and told her I'd already done a test. I'm required to do another one on 15th just to be sure. My student's mum was very pleased that I tested negative.I think she would have felt quite bad if I had caught covid. My student isn't feeling too poorly but tends to feel worse as the day goes on. I hope she feels better before Christmas

That’s good. Phew
I’ve read stuff that says after 10 days you aren’t contagious, not sure how true that is. In theory I can go out on Sunday, but at the mo, I can’t see it. Even though I’m grateful mine is a bad cold, I’d forgotten how colds can be. Not had one for years. If I could get rid of the needing to sneeze all the time sensation, I’d be better. My glands are up. The girls I was with had a very bad few days but are ok now. So weird how differently it manifests

Really pleased you had a negative result criswell. That’s a relief, especially with Christmas around the corner. I’m glad that you’re getting through it well ffiscool. Colds are pretty miserable so if that’s as bad as you’ve had it, that’s good, but still not nice. I wonder if there will be a lockdown situation the same as last year. I think they know they made mistakes in reacting too late last year that they need to be straight on it this time around, especially as the majority of hospitalised patients are doubly-vaccinated. My daughter is at her boyfriend’s work Christmas dinner tonight. I’m not sure he’d have been having one if it was next week. They’re going ice skating tomorrow, trying to make nice memories for the future. It makes me realise how we took it for granted we could do what we wanted and go where we chose when I was her age.
