It's insane, my daughter in law said Aldi has no meat, toilet rolls or kitchen rolls. My daughter who has a 6 month old who is really laid up with a cold says there is no Calpol in the shops She has enough for today. She lives in North London, she will find some and I have a new bottle here so I will post it too her.

Shirls glad your niece is better! My next door neighbors criswell are a couple in their 40's and have been quite nice ever since I've moved in here a couple of years ago. If I need help I'm sure I can call on them. Today is our first day of total shutdown. It is eerie with the lack of the "normal" city noises especially cars driving around- it sounds more like a national holiday. I heard on the radio today that many TV shows will stop filming for 2-4 weeks. We may be watching movies and re-runs soon, not the most critical thing but it does help keep us company and keep spirits up. I have everything I need right now but I would like some fresh fruit. I'll wait a couple of days and venture to the store. Happy St. Patrick's Day - no green beer this year!

Whilst that is true skysmum, this is a very new virus and is continually growing, so we do not know what the future implications will be. Exactly. It is a new virus, similar to SARS, which most of the global population has not come into contact with before so the experts cannot predict how well the human body can manage it.

If they have some or the doc can prescribe etc?

I think one problem is the large number of cases expected in just a few weeks whereas seasonal flu is spread out across the winter. Also the fatality rate for covid-19 is higher than seasonal flu. It's a real possibility without social distancing measures that very many more people could die from covid-19. The Governments chief scientific advisor, Sir Patrick Vallance, earlier today, said with social distancing plus isolation of the most vulnerable, deaths may be kept below 20,000. Without the control measures it will almost certainly be a lot higher.
As others have said, it's the unknown nature of the virus that makes this so difficult to deal with and plan for so taking as many precautions as possible is a good idea.

tweetiepiesmom I'm glad you have some nice neighbours. I know what you mean about it being quiet like a national holiday. I certainly heard less traffic when I was outside cleaning the rabbit hutch, just like Christmas day.

I have suggested that. I know you can order baby food at the chemist. Thanks ffiscool. Poor little thing is so congested my daughter stays up all night so she can sleep upright. The doctor says just keep checking her temperature and Calpol. She has managed to smile at me today a couple of times on FaceTime which is better than yesterday and she is eating.

No fresh meat now locally either. My shop for next Tuesday already saying no chicken. It did that last week but then chicken arrived.
It’s totally crazy. Local Tesco said if you want fresh meat be there before 8am. Must be a stampede at that time.

I just got back home from my neighborhood store. There were no lines and the parking was good. Yes many items were gone - not a potato to be had - but everything I wanted was in stock. I got some fresh fruit and veggies. Question: I picked out my fruit and veggies from the bin where you can them up one by one to make sure they are not bruised, etc. In this day of coronavirus, how do you clean these that may have been picked up by others? I noticed all the stock people were wearing gloves.

I noticed all the stock people were wearing gloves. Either leave them untouched for well over 24 hours, or wash them. Most fruit and veg other than leafy stuff should be okay with soap and water. Cooking should deconstruct the virus too, most likely, though I can't say for sure.

She is Islington area. Luckily she has some really good neighbours close by and her husband will be off on his travels as well. Thank you so much for asking.
