The various countries could take Trump's position. Let everything open up and get the economy going. He says people will get the virus and develop immunity or die - its all just collateral damage. I don't want to be part of the collateral damage. Does he not realize that other people will not get the treatment he had to get over it in a few days or does he just not care? I guess that's what you get when you put a businessman in charge - the economy is first and foremost.

It will inevitably be the old, vulnerable and poor who are most likely to die, and for a president who puts the economy before everything they are just a drain on resources.

The news this morning was reporting about the lockdown just starting in the UK. They were showing bars in London last packed with revelers and people there were saying its like New Years Eve! Hopefully everybody's got everything they need to get through this lockdown.
People here are anticipating that Biden will be the new president, that he'll order a lockdown and so they are starting the toilet paper hoarding again. Some stores are limiting the sale of those items to one package per person. Silly people, Biden wouldn't take office until Jan 20 - plenty of time to stock up!
Everyone stay safe and I hope the lockdown works!

it is crazy.. the stores are not limiting anyone.. so people can just buy up everything. last time they did limit certain items.. not like they didn't know this was coming so they could have put it in place again. there was a photo someone took of a man piling his trolley high with pasta and all sorts. so nothing left for anyone else
It is hard to know whether it is better for you guys with Trump again or Biden... I love that Trump is already threatening action as it is not fair. talk about an overgrown baby, throwing toys out... it is pathetic
just had a waste of time call with my bank, I had sent a cheque to be paid in, which during all this, they are accepting by post. I had done it a few months back. the info is on their website. I had it returned today to say it was not made out to the bank!!
omg.. of course it isn't, it was sent to me. I had all the details on the back and say please pay in.
I rang and this woman said can you get the company to change it to the bank name.. I said why would I when it is sent to me and no I cannot get it changed as DVLA sent it..
held on for ages whilst she checked with a colleague, then said you will have to go and pay it in, in person. I said no, it is clear on your website.. she hung up.
AGH AGH
did an online chat with the bank and they said no reason it should have been returned, please send again.
I do despair - don't get me wrong, I know it is not important in the scheme of things at the moment, but it is so unnecessary and stupid.

I did my shop yesterday and I didn't notice any panic buying. Plenty of pasta and loo roll on the shelves.
How annoying about the bank. Obviously the cheque is made out to you and should be accepted and paid into your account, and a DVLA cheque is hardly going to bounce anyway. I think she was wrong. I would get through on live chat online and tell them what happened. I don't know why, but live chat customer service always seems better.

Yes I’m resending it with my comments!
The online chat said the return was wrong and the first person I dealt with
Glad we’re in lockdown with a big firework display somewhere near

I do online banking with Barclays and all I have to do is go on their app and photograph the cheque and it's done. I just have to write on the back the date it is paid in and I write the time and we keep the cheque until it shows on our bank balance. I pay cheques in for Natwest for my friend, who lives in Lanzarote, at the Post Office, just fill an envelope in and all done.

So many people are ignoring the lockdown. Do they not realise they are just prolonging it all, aside from the spread risk.

That is disheartening ffiscool. Cases are on the rise again here in the US. More demonstrations going on. Fortunately very little violence but there is an active police presence at them. They all have people without face masks, some more than others and off course no or very little social distancing. The health officials are saying that most of the cases now are being transmitted within families - people not living in the same house are visiting family members and exposing other family members. Cases are now showing up in the hospital of people who have both the flu and coronavirus.

The problem I think is, obviously we are all fed up with it, however this is not a game. People are rebelling, had enough, but how stupid are they. My Neighbours had people over today, in a smallish space. No one that is flouting it can have lost anyone is all I can say

I am sure there will be another peak in two weeks time, after seeing everyone 'celebrating' the last night of 'freedom' before the lockdown the other day, (on t.v.) here in the U.K. No social distancing, no masks, how stupid are these people? Do they actually think this virus is going to become prevalent on the lockdown day? Do they not realise it is there ALL THE TIME!

This is why I get so angry. It’s so unfair. Maybe instead of fining people, they should all be put somewhere together, to get on with it. Then the idiots will only spread it amongst themselves.
