Correct me if I am wrong blue48, but I thought only ONE household could be in your bubble if you are a single person living alone? Full lockdown again, not before time either. I just hope all those people that don't abide by the rules start knuckling down now and realise how they may be spreading this awful virus.

According to my respiratory consultant I should give up my birds for my physical health, they do not consider my mental health.
I'm leaving this thread alone now for my own mental health.

Mental health is so important, your buds help you, so that’s the most important.

I understand what you're saying Marianne Marlow, but it's more frustration than unkindness. I have kidney disease and asthma and have been trying to protect myself since March because I'm sure there would be complications if I caught Covid. I have also lost 2 close friends to Covid and I am scared. I live alone, I spent Christmas alone and didn't see my grandchildren, just exchanged gifts with my sons outside. I have to share communal areas with my neighbour, who incidentally is younger than me, and I feel their actions are putting me at risk. PLus our local hospital is at 100% capacity. We all know schoolchildren are 'super-spreaders' and with this new variant, that we are told is 50% - 70% more contagious, I think everyone needs to take this so seriously, without exception. Two of her grandchildren are adults with children of their own so that means she has 5 households in her bubble including her own. I don't think I am being unreasonable when I say that is excessive. Whilst it doesn’t alter the stats, I’m sure that a lot of the quicker spread is that we are all indoors more, due to the weather. If we we’re back k in good weather as we were when this all started, it would be less. Your neighbour is not doing herself any favours either.

However, I was wrong to use this thread as a release for my frustration and for that I apologise.

There’s no need. There’s a lot of similar frustrations from a lot.

Agree ffiscool, no problem blue48, we all have a little rant sometimes on different threads even, and why not? We share your frustrations I'm sure.

I’m watching the ITV programme about all this, how it started, but also how we did not react quickly enough in the UK despite overwhelming evidence. It’s appalling

I so agree with you there ffiscool. If the lockdown had been enforced sooner, and lasted longer, we would not be in this mess now!

Well I would like to wish all the best to our friends in America now for hopefully a better and brighter future.
What with Biden being in now, hopefully he shall prove to be a little more effective in dealing with this horrible virus than the last President.

One of the big problems has been the distribution of the vaccine and Trump left that up to the individual states which clearly wasn't going to work. One of the first things Biden has done is to set up a task force to get the distribution going properly. We now have a new law which is everyone must wear a mask on federal property (I think I read it will be in effect for 100 days) which includes many buildings, parks, museums and even some beaches. The states often follow federal laws and may mandate masks on state owned property and cities may follow. That will get people wearing masks more and hopefully control the impact on hospitals.

You must feel very reassured, feeling that someone is actually taking charge rather than bumbling ineffectually along. Difficult to put politician and honest in the same sentence, but Biden comes across as trustworthy,

Got to say that I like Biden, he does seem a very honest, open, down to earth person. This is something I have never ever said about any politition, particularly the British ones!!

I am looking forward to Biden rebuilding good relationships with all our allies and not feeling bad about the latest rude tweet!
