Fingers crossed that he continues to improve; glad he seems a little better at least.

He didn't have a great day today. He was playful, singing and chirping and came out for a fly around. Unfortunately, he threw up 4 times during the day. I think they are becoming bored with their food. They are allowed only seeds and wheat grass. They get really excited when I put it in their cage. They are used to a much greater variety.

Sorry, boys, but it is for your own good. And hopefully won't last too long.

I haven't been on much because I'm so very worried about Tweetie Pie. The started out the day OK but then took a down turn. He threw up -meaning seeds slipped out his beak - after eating all day long. He was also drinking a lot, little sips all day long. He's still got the ACV water. The vet is ordering the Nystatin for him to be given twice a day.
I think Buddy knows he's sick. He was sitting close to him most of the day softly chirping until Tweetie Pie had enough and nipped at him.
I gave them fresh ACV water and filled the seed dishes. They are in bed now.

tweetiepiesmom - I hope Tweetie Pie starts to feel better with the medication. I did some reading on it (I didn’t dive too deep) and it sounds like it’s pretty mild at least. Here’s some general information, but take it with a grain of salt because they don’t link to sources, but I found it useful as a launch pad to find additional scientific reading. www.beautyofbirds.com/candida.html

Poor Tweetie Pie. Criswell had a candida infection in his crop and anti-fugal meds cleared it up in about 2 weeks. We took him back after a week for a check up and there was still candida in his crop so he needed another week of meds before he got the all clear. He didn't enjoy being captured for meds twice a day but it was worth it.
I'm sure you'll have Tweetie Pie back to his perky self in no time. You take such good care of them xxx

I hope the new meds from the vet help. Poor little guy deserves a break, as do you.

The vet dispenses the meds she had recommended (Nystatin). I was getting ready to go pick them up this morning when the vet called to see how Tweetie Pie was doing. He threw up quite a bit yesterday and judging by the condition of the bottom of the cage, it looks like he threw up quite a bit last night. The vet asked me to bring him in. That was an ordeal! After my hand chasing him around the flight cage for a bit, I finally got my hand around him. As I was moving him to the travel cage - literally a couple feet away - he squiggled out my hand and went flying! I opened the door to the flight cage hoping he'd go back in. But no! Buddy flew out. It didn't look like they were going back in. After a few tries I managed to throw a towel over him and get him into the travel cage. Off to the vet we went and I left him with her.
She just called me back. The good news is that he hasn't lost weight - he measured 28 grams today. She managed to get him to eat and he kept it down. She wants to keep him a couple more hours to feed him again. She's called a prescription in for him and the pharmacy will deliver but it might take a couple of days. The name didn't stick with me but I'll post it when I get it. Since he's so hard to catch and hold, this medicine will go on a bit of millet, twice a day for 30 days. She said if Buddy manages to get a bit of it, that's not a problem.
I am now setting up a smaller cage to keep Buddy in so I can tear down the flight cage and clean/disinfect everything before I move them back in there.

Whew! What an ordeal indeed! I’m glad your vet is being thorough and keeping him for observation though! It will be much easier for her to make the correct judgement call over a longer observation time than just a quick in and out visit. Poor babies, but Tweetie Pie is getting great care and they will be back together soon! :3

It's good that the vet is keeping him for observation and great news that he hasn't lost any weight. Poor little boy. I hope the new meds work and that he's starting to feel better soon. So stressful for you all

Good luck with the anti-fungals. Hopefully this will set him right once and for all.

Thank you everyone. The boys are settled down for the night and I'm finally sitting down myself. The vet actually force fed Tweetie Pie twice to make sure he had some food in him. He kept the food down both times. She prescribed Amphotericin B on a bit of millet twice a day for thirty days. The good news is that they can have all their others again. I think they'll be happy about that. Both were upset at being apart and jumping on the front of their cages trying to get at each other. Hopefully I can get their flight cage cleaned and set up again in a couple of days so they'll be back together. Tweetie Pie has a wing feather out of place. I think it may have happened when he was flapping around in the cage as the assistant was carrying him out to my car. I'm not going to fiddle with it because I don't want to make it worse. He should be able to take care of it himself, right?

I tried to give him his first dose of medicine this morning. I put it on a bauble of millet and held it up to him but he wouldn't eat it. I'm not sure if he's so very hand shy because he's been man (or woman) handled so much yesterday, he's upset because he's not with Buddy or he just doesn't like the looks of it. I put the bauble of millet with medicine on it in his seed cup. Maybe he'll go eat it there.

So the vet is covering the AGY possibility; I'm sorry about that. I wouldn't be comfortable with relying on him eating the millet to get his meds, certainly not for a month and twice a day. Are you able to see the vet personally? If so, or even one of the vet nurses would be able to show you ... I'd be asking them to show you personally how to go about giving him his meds. A written description is not the same as seeing it done, or even doing it yourself under supervision. It is something you need to learn to do. My opinion, anyway.
