Hehe Hezz, I'm kinda glad you don't live round the corner then! I love those baby faces too. Their eyes look so big:) Freddie is now spending 20% time with the chicks and 80% time with Randy. Mainly as hes started to look a bit poorly again. Hes no longer feeding the chicks, but when he hears them squabbling he wants to go in their cage to calm them down. He makes the rules lol I just open the cage door for him;) I noticed last night Freddies voice was strange again:(

Look after him, Nat. He doesn't seem to be able to do it for himself plus taking his responsibilities seriously. Does that mean he is back onto the baytril? Are the chicks old enough to feed themselves? Slow down, Freddie, you don't have to be super-Dad.

All the birds went into the new aviary today except the chicks. Freddie was keen to give it a try for an hour and had a good fly round, then he left to go back to his chicks. I've held off the baytril as he is a little better than yesterday and looked far more comfortable this evening when doing some heavy petting with Lagudin! The chicks are totaly self sufficient now Hezz and don't ask him for food anymore. I think he just prefers their cage as theres a bit less going on. Its strange how he was totaly ok for the duration of the round, but now as soon as the chicks and Randy don't need him hes gone downhill again. I suppose a course of baytril wouldn't hurt as hes been of it for more than 8 weeks now. The vet thought he'd need to be on it almost permanently!

He has probably been running on empty, Nat like we all do at times. We get exhausted but keep on going because we know it is only until next week or make it to the weekend etc. Sounds like he is happy in the cage, and that can only be a good thing, surely. Less stress for the old fella. I wish I could meet this little guy, what a character!

I removed the chicks and left the aviary and cage door open. Freddie and Randy flew in there imediately! Have started on baytril again and hope it helps him a bit. He is still so energetic. I am almost certain he has a tumour or abcess around the crop area as his voice is affected. I wonder if thats why he was ok when breeding. Maybe the diet of softfood, millet and soaked groats was easier for him to eat if theres something in the way? I had cut down on this diet to get the chicks onto seed in the last few days. I'll get him back onto it again:)

I'm sitting in the birdroom now Hezz and Freddie is squeaking while breathing just like he did for months before they started breeding. If he flys he makes a rasping noise during flight. I'm worried as last time he had baytril 2/3 months ago it didn't work. It was the presence of Randy that did the trick. He hasn't losst weight during the round at all and looks okish. I think the round might have just staved off the enevitable. He is uncomfortable just as before and is unable to sleep properly because of it. Its like that round never happened. Hes eaten soaked organic pinhead oatmeal and eggfood tonight plus red millet spray. Appetite good and poops good.

Hahaha, I think you could be right Hezz! Freddie must have been kipping when the vibes came in Well, he certainly wasn't kipping early the next morning! But the mixture of vibes, jiggy with Randy, baby food diet and baytril have brought him back to life again:) But crikey, does this mean Randy is going to disapear under the paper again and start pinging eggs all over the place?! If she does, then she will have to make do with all dummies this time.
