Poor Breezie. I hope he recovers quickly and stops you worrying. I’m the same and worry so much for my animal babies. Sounds like you’ve eliminated anything sharp so hopefully the sore part will get better soon and not reoccur.

ariella I think it was crash landing due to squabble with cookie in evening for sleep space. Breezie has been crash landing since forever.. Nothing sharp, night lamp at night bright enough for them to eat food in middle of the night and cage cover doesn't touch the cage walls (due to Cookie's long nails). They have so much space in the cage, but Cookie wants to sleep wherever Breezie settles. He seemed worse at the end of the day today, since Cookie kept chasing him to fly on other perches. She will continue bullying him and he needs peace, rest and safety. I'll try to lure him with food to another cage..last resort would be to grab him. This time, I'll not let them together until he is completely 100 % fine and can curl and tuck in his entire feet. Though it's heartbreaking, I can't let him injure himself over and over again. She moves him away from the place he decides to sleep constantly for half hour everyday, but since he was almost fine and running everywhere, I didn't interfere. That seems risky to me now!

Hope you get on okay luring him into the other cage and won’t need to grab him. Hopefully, it’ll work and his foot can recover properly. Maybe sleeping apart will be best for them. Are they fine during the day together?

Anytime he has an issue with his health, somehow they can't coexist well together ariella. She didn't let him perch for more than a minute on any perch in the entire cage and also didn't let him sleep or eat properly. Cookie is a nervous bird and her behavior changes entirely from the normal when traveling..that might be happening with night squabbles. I'm not sure why she has been such a rebel, whenever he isn't well or hurt. I'll check about fennel and chamomile tea for that. For now, they are separated day and night. Will decide later once at least breezie can start moving. He is sitting on one perch since he's in another cage. I had to hand feed him 😔

Oh no. Hand feeding sounds a step backwards. I hope he soon settles into the different cage and perks up when he gets some proper rest and a decent sleep without being disturbed. It’s difficult for you too to see him like this and have to cope with them being separated. I hope you’re getting rest too and not staying awake worrying.

ariella Would love to see that. That seems to be very nicely done. I have got those paper punches too.. 😍 I have an entire 3 door cupboard dedicated to art, craft and stationary 😅 I used to have an art desk at our flat, but then we relocated, so everything's inside the cupboard now. The art desk vibes were really good 🧡 I made those paper figures too. I had been making some paper finger puppets for a friend's little daughter, so just made a few for birdies too.. 🙈
Did I overdo the orange? 😂

Today, Cookie accidentally landed on the foot massage board. She gave it a suspicious look, but stayed there for a while on the border of the plate. She turned around before I could get her pic. She hangs out mostly on Breezie's cage top for 2-3 hours, then takes a tour of the room, checks the ceiling fan (regulator always locked at 0) and comes back to land on either of the cages, followed with going back inside to eat and shred inside the cage for next couple of hours. Seems to be a schedule. She pokes her beak from the cage bars to lock beaks with Breezie, but he doesn't respond right now. She calls out a lot to him too and he responded once today. That felt good. She has been staring at the temp tree stand too. I didn't have to tell her about the mirrors or the balcony glass door. She figured out on her own.

She’s gaining in confidence isn’t she. How sweet that she’s wanting to be close to Breezie. She must miss him but it’s good she’s getting out and exploring without him.

That's true.. She has never let me come close to the cage. She would fly away always. But she stays there now and just steps backwards, when I give her and breezie green veggies to eat. I feel good too looking at her outside the cage at least. Breezie starts getting upset after a couple of hours when she flies around the room, so I don't let her out for 2nd half. Don't want Breezie to feel caged too.
I did work on the tree stand & cleaned up the birdie room to be - to divert my anxiousness. Ended up making the tree stand more like a scarecrow instead, followed by converting it into a spiderweb 😅 Creativity is deeply affected by the state of mind! I think birdies won't mind though!

The modified cobweb aka tree stand🤦♀️🙈😅 I wanted to wrap the thinner branches too. Not yet sure though, if I'm done with their tree stand. I looked up some origami figures - might add some plain paper ones there.. I have been trying to divert my nervousness into cleaning and creativity.. It seems I can't do better than this one at this point of time.

Cookie has been very brave in trying out things close to her cage. The tree stand is approved..I think I wasn't done with the tree stand, but will not make any changes now, since she is interested!
She knew she couldn't fly into the mirror, but she was super curious about her reflection.. so tried flying towards the mirror multiple times to return back. On the safer side, the mirror was covered later.
I love watching her exploring everything around.. she's a brave kid sometimes.. She stays cautious with me around..and she doesn't come out easily, if my hubby is also in the room. She's not used to him very much.. but I can feed her food going close enough to her (Feels like such an achievement!). Once breezie is out of cage though, they will spend far more time on the ceiling fan or curtain rod. She hangs around breezie a lot right now. She had been curious about the play gym earlier when breezie used to be out with her, but these days she doesn't explore her cage top much. But I'm hopeful.. it seems I can understand her likes and dislikes better now. She used the small t stand after 3 months, due to breezie only! 🙈 Tree stand was accepted pretty early. Recently, she is very curious about my mobile.. She screams to watch what I'm watching to lick my phone at the end.. 😂😅 She finds it amusing and often tries to look behind the mobile cover to see where the images are popping up. Unknowingly, there are some birdie chirps in the series and movies, which also interests her maybe. I show her Rio animation video song and Piper's animation birdie short movie.. she runs towards the phone and does all unique antics that makes me laugh out loud. Cookie says that the magical video device is hers from now onwards 😅😂 I think I need a new phone for myself.. 😅

Cookie is such a character mona. She certainly makes herself clear what she wants. I love the mental image of her looking behind your mobile cover to see where the images are coming from. 😂 It’s really encouraging that she’s doing so well at investigating new things and I’m sure she has so much fun ahead with you and Breezie when he’s recovered and able to join her.
