It's tricky without a car. I usually find I can get a taxi up to the vet, but then it's a bit in the middle of nowhere so no one wants to pick me up, so I have to get the train back. Considering a little hamster carrier for when I only need to take one bird. The travel cage gets heavy!

Billy is jumping about in his cage, being annoyed at not being let out, meanwhile I am trying to feed Eve Weetabix while she runs off and says "I can't eat it" then occasionally comes back for another spoonful.
Usual morning Chaos.

They just called me. I have to wait outside. They said he's having trouble breathing so they're giving him oxygen before they handle him. So worried now 😭😭

He's 41grams. Which is good. With no fluid around his belly, also good.
The vet said that she can't be sure without taking an xray and bloods but she thinks it's his liver and possibly also pancreas. She also said that his muscle mass around his keel bone isn't as much as she would expect if he's flying round all day.
I told her I wasn't keen on him having an xray because it means an anaesthetic and I wasn't sure how he'd cope with it. She said that she understood and that instead I should perhaps just make dietary changes.
She's given me some avipro and said I should consider switching all the budgies to a pellet diet or at least a partial one and I should also up the amount of days I give them milk thistle.
She also said that I shouldn't be surprised if Billy only lives a couple more years but that he may live a long time and just cope with his illnesses.
She said that she has a cockatiel with a liver issue that gets an overgrown beak.
Meanwhile he's bouncing about here playing kissyface and bashing beaks with Colin.

Aww bless him. Hopefully the milk thistle increase will help.
Bet you’re both glad to be home. Can’t remember if you’ve used pellets before?

Bless him. Glad he's home safe and sound, I've been feeling anxious for you both. Hopefully a few tweaks will help support him for a good number of years more.

I know you and Billy breathed a sigh of relief when you got home! You have a diagnosis from the vet so hopefully with a few changes, Billy will live many more happy years. Are you going to let Eve chase him around to build up his pec muscles more? I myself always struggle with the pellet question - should I feed it or shouldn't I? It seems all the vets here recommend pellets as part of the food plan with no more than 25% seeds. Right now, my guys are not getting any pellets. You know from other posts here that it always takes time before they eat pellets. Good luck to you and your beautiful Billy.

Well done the pair of you for getting through a stressful few hours. Your photo waiting outside says it all. What a worry from that call, but I’m relieved he settled and everything went well. I’m really pleased that it was more or less something you were prepared for and that Billy can live some more wonderful years with you. I know you’ll handle his dietary changes perfectly. Lovely to see Billy happy to be home.

I'm glad you are both home safely. Last time RC was at the vets he needed oxygen as he was very stressed. I hope Billy has many more happy years with you and that the extra milk thistle helps him.
