You might end up with.. Camomile. Bleurgh! To me a cuppa is a cup of black tea with a dash of milk. But I know plenty of people that just drink herbal tea. Yes, M; things certainly have changed. You couldn’t just say “yes, please” to the offer of “a cuppa” now as you would never know what you might end up being given. For the older generations a cuppa definitely means a cup of tea (black)

I agree with you, Marianne Marlow. I never developed a taste for Camomile tea. I do like many herbal teas and green teas, especially the fruit flavored ones. I find the plain black tea a bit bitter for my taste but that could be because of what's available here.

It does Hezz. My husband leave the bag in, which I cannot tolerate! Once it's reached the right colour for me, the bag goes in the bin. tweetiepiesmom Occasionally I'll have a peppermint or green tea. I'm off the fruit ones, once I had one that was a deep red and it gave me a migraine, I actually vomited.

Oh my, Marianne Marlow that would put me off that tea also! I do tend to leave the tea bag in too long. I'll brew a cup intending to take the bag out after 5 minutes and then I start doing something. The next thing I know is 15 minutes have passed!

Love a lemon and ginger tea, or lemongrass, but otherwise it is black tea for me - black as in no milk added (or sugar), more of a nut-brown colour. I don’t like it strong. My observations have been that those who like their tea strong will put either milk or sugar in it, or both.

That is right Hezz, I like strong tea with a splash of milk.

I was at work at the time too! Oh my, Marianne Marlow that would put me off that tea also! I do tend to leave the tea bag in too long. I'll brew a cup intending to take the bag out after 5 minutes and then I start doing something. The next thing I know is 15 minutes have passed!

I have a few questions.
Question One... about very hot days during summer. I live in the UK so there is no air conditioning in my house and in the summer months during heatwaves it gets very hot in my house and I'm worried about the budgies getting stressed or de-hydrated from the heat if they are used to much cooler temperatures. I will take measures by putting extra water tubs of shallow water in there cage so that they can sit in them if it gets too hot and they will have plenty to drink. Would they be ok in the heat?
Question Two... Can a wild Ringneck parakeet be trained? How are they around budgies?
Question Three... What can I do about pigeons waking me up every morning they are constantly trying to nest on my balcony. They make such a racket and I chased them off but they return again 5 minutes later they carry fleas which can jump quite far. They had a nest on my bacony once with a baby bird in there so I left them alone to look after it until it was ready to go then I got rid of the nest and I don't want them making another. They are becoming a real pain. Every morning they wake me up or if I'm having a lay in during the weekend I'm kept awake by them because I have to keep getting up to chase them away.

I can give you some ideas. According to the vet expert here in the southwest US where it gets very hot in the summer, budgies are more affected by heat than cold. Keeping the air moving using fans helps, just don't let the fan blow directly on them. Also look at the fan from a safety aspect and make sure the budgies won't get hurt if they land on them. Watch for signs of stress such as the budgies holding their wings out away from their body and breathing/panting with an open beak.
I don't know anything about Ringneck parakeets so I'll leave that for someone else to answer.
You can scare away the pigeons with loud noise. Banging a large metal pan with a large spoon can work. It works best if you do it as they are coming in. You'll have to be persistent and do it everyday until they stop coming.

You cal so use a spray bottle of water, to mist them I worry about my budgies in the summer time when the house is very hot because I will have to open windows and won't be able to let them out of the cage during that time even with windows open in the heat it can make little difference. The only thing I can think of doing is putting some shallow containers of water in there cage so they can cool down by going in the water to bath.

The bath idea is good but you need a strategy to minimise droppings in the water. It's my experience that budgies use things you want kept clean for target practice.

I have read a suggestion to put a bowl of ice water with a fan blowing over it to cool things down. I don't know if it works, but you can try it lordpurchase.

The ice in front of a fan definitely works, I used to do it for my dog if it got hot here. I used to use freezer blocks too , the kind we put in freezer bags of food.
