Three little angels who came to our home yesterday 🧡 We haven't decided on their names yet. Thinking about snowy for the white one. Mom's Piku looks just like the green one and she had granny, greenie earlier.. the one who looks like Breezie reminds me a lot of him & is bonded with Snowy.. My heart skips a beat when ever I look at him.. Though completely different personality, so I hope I will not feel that way or I'll send him/her away with mom's flock.. I'm not sure about anyone's gender and age.. but except the green one, both seem young. Snowy can't fly till the perch, if she is on cage bottom. Hoping that they all get back to the best of their health in a month or two. The girl who had been fostering them for a few days offered to split up the medical costs, since she felt guilty about not knowing about lices and convincing me to adopt them.. I haven't agreed to it though.. It feels really odd.. 🙈 She is kind though. She sent us notes from her birdies and chocolates to say thank you for adopting the birdies.. It was cute 🧡 I know the perches are bad. They aren't used to sitting on wooden perches and were afraid of it !!! So we have placed one plastic perch and one wooden. We will remove the plastic one soon.. I had to search for plastic perch deep in the birdie cupboard.. They were "without" perches at their previous place. All they had was a thin wire loop added at some places to perch and sleep, a third grade plastic bowl for seeds and nothing else in the cage!! They aren't afraid of anything so far. They are okay with afternoon sunlight or travel.. they can sleep in light or noise.. that makes me think either our birds are pampered or these ones have been through a lot or they are just chilled out!

Pippin was afraid of wooden perches when we first got him too, he was only used to dowel perches that were covered in sandpaper sheathes. So pleased that you've been able to take in these little ones. They look very cute. Hopefully they don't need too much in the way of medical care to get them back to full health.

They are all so cute and I'm loving the little white beauty. With your care they should all do well and be giving you joy watching their antics soon. I agree - two look very young.

Lucky little budgies!!! They are adorable. These early days are always a bit stressful as you check out how they are and look for possible issues I guess but fingers crossed it all goes well! I look forward to hearing more about them.

Ira I couldn't imagine they could be afraid of wooden perches..!
I hope they get well. I haven't been able to see any lices again in the cage or on snowy. S/he wanted to flip the cage base paper and looked just as determined as Cookie.. Extremely naughty. We thought s/he isn't very active and might be very ill but all of that changed today evening. Waiting for all of them to open up! Also, looking at them eating, drinking and being active/naughty gives me hope that it isn't very bad and will get treated. I hope the vet has the right percentage of ivermectin.. that's the only reason I'm going there tomorrow..

Poor little souls, fancy just having those bits of wire rings to try and perch and sleep on, so sad The green one looks a bit older than the others who certainly aren't very old. What a great change to their lives coming to live with you, heaven for them

Oh, that just breaks my heart that even people who mean well have no idea how to provide basic care for a budgie. I’m so glad you found them mona!

I’m so glad you’ve opened your heart and home to these three gorgeous little ones. It sounds like they’re starting to settle well and I hope they’re soon back to full health and will eventually be enjoying all the wonderful play areas you create. I look forward to hearing more about them all. Well done, Mona. I agree with everyone else; they’re so very lucky to have come to live with you. The photos off how they were kept before, especially of the little one sleeping so uncomfortably, are heartbreaking. I hope all went well at the vets.

Unfortunately, the little greenu baby flew over the rainbow yesterday. It seemed like he had metal poisoning. He had watery poops and reddish brown towards the end. He was so friendly. He kept looking for my hand from the cage, so I thought he wants to eat something. So, I got some grass with me, but he settled on my palm, ate grass, tucked his head under my thumb and slept on it for a long time. I caressed his head and it seemed he felt good. Mom said he was looking for some warmth. We already had heat lamp on for them.. After sometime,I had to put him on a perch and later found him on cage base.. It was heart breaking and reminded me of breezie. Mom said he was destined to have his last moments with us.. I hope he felt loved in the very short span he was with us.. Only if he had stayed with us.. 💔 I'm thinking the other two might also have ingested rust.. there are no indications right now, but since all 3 were in the same cage, it's quite possible. Read about coriander helping with metal poisoning, which we are giving to them already. I have started looking for the treatment for the same, if need arises. 0.1 percent ivermectin isn't available anywhere in India and I couldn't find the option to import from the websites I could find. I spent a few days finding it locally & thinking about whether to take a favor from someone. But, greenu's passing away made me ask for it, though I never ask for a favor, but feel so helpless right now. I can't see them pass away due to lice! An instagram budgie friend from abroad is sending it to us today and I'm hoping nothing goes wrong at the customs and reaches by time. Since she won't take money, I'll send her a gift back from here, when it's okay to receive couriers from India there (restricted due to delta strain covid). Morgan was kind enough to offer it too and help me with a lot of info on Instagram chats.. Till then, we are using neem and lemongrass water for spray bath or bath tub.. please let me know, if I can take any other preventive measures.. She took bath yesterday on her own. We were scared if they are already sick, forcing bath might be bad for them. The poop for snowy is perfect, but the other one has a bit sticky poop on her vent. We are deworming them on our own based on a previous prescription by a vet that worked for our birds.. They look okay to us right now, but we are trying to keep our hopes low. We can just try to treat them well with the available resources we have. The vet visit was useless. They didn't prescribe anything and didn't give any medicine. Just lectured me about their supposed diet and sent us away with nothing. About lice, I showed her a picture and told her about it. She asked us to come back after 10 days, since it's not visible right now. I was really very angry at her. Why do we want to wait for things to go downhill?! I called up yesterday evening and had an outburst at the assistant who picked up the call. Told them that we lost breezie and a baby yesterday and they were so laid back all the time. I have a call with the senior vet there today at 9am & I'm going to really yell at him! I don't think they can ever actually help with the birdies..Going to ask him if he has 0.1 percent ivermectin, in case the vets have it (which I asked already the lady vet, but she didn't answer). If they don't have it or won't give it, I'm never going back there again. It'll be just giving stress to the sick birdies. I found a distributor in South India that sells topical 0.1 percent ivermectin, but they have international license, not domestic, so they didn't send it to me. It's ironical that we need that for birds in India and they are selling it to other countries. I hope these two make it.. Rest, as my mom says, if they are destined to live, they'll live. There's nothing more we can do, what we are doing right now.. 💔

I’m so sorry you lost the green boy. 😔
I’m really glad that someone is able to ship the ivermectin to you though!
And I have to agree with your mom - when resources are limited and you are already doing everything you can… At the very least these birds get to have a pleasant experience living with you until they must go.
Even if they don’t live very long, they’re already in a much cleaner, healthier, and most loving environment they could hope to find themselves in. ❤️
I do have high hopes though that the other two will be okay!!
I am also extremely grateful to have easy access to medicines here… I couldn’t imagine going through what you are right now 😔🤗
