This is going to sound like a weird question! We used to enjoy watching videos on youtube of a guy trying out MRE's from all over the world. For those that do not know, an MRE is a "Meal Ready to Eat", given to troops in the military. Well I have recently got into trying them myself. But because I am vegetarian and cash poor, my choices are limited. I have so far tried a 12 hour vegan MRE and have just ordered 2 vegetarian 24 hour MRE's (they were on special offer and are both different) they'll make up part of my daily meals at home when they arrive. This is what the vegan 12 hour MRE looked like: This was the meal once it was heated, it was actually quite nice! So I just wondered if anyone else has any odd hobbies that they want to share?

Well, that is interesting and different! My first thought was "why would anyone want to eat that if they didn't have to?". Then I thought those meals are nutritionally balanced and made to be healthy, so why not?
I'm afraid I'm just boring and not the first person to try something new. I don't even collect anything interesting.

I’d not heard of those. But I’m going to have a look. Not sure I’ve got any interesting hobbies tbh. I’m redoing my tiny bit outside, just added more pebbles to make it look fresher. Ordered a bench, ready made as I can’t do flat packs. I think it might be too deep but never mind. Then I’ll get new plants once I decide which pots I keep and which goes where. I have a sun chair but forever taking it in and out, especially with the weather here and sun. This can stay out and I can sit in the morning with a cuppa The space next to the plants along the wall is where the bench is going.

I'm with you on flat packs ffiscool, I don't find them much fun. I like your heart shaped pots

This is how it was, 2 years ago - one of the guys in the flats had power washed the stone slabs. It’s lovely when my plants are flowering, but I’ll enjoy sitting there more and having fewer.

The meal looks quite tasty. Looking forward to hearing more about it.
My hobbies are quite ordinary - cross stitch, crochet, collecting postcards, playing guitar. And my newest one is having an allotment.
We also paint lead minatures for fantasy war games - a hobby I acquired when I met my partner but we haven't actually painted any for years as we've been busy.

criswell It was a spicy vegetable Rigatoni and it was actually very nice. It came with something called a hot pack to warm it up. With the hot pack you open it, put water in, put the meal in and it warms it up - kind of like boil in the bag. The lime drink was very pleasant too.

Do you mean figures like Warhammer ones? Those look so fiddly I'd hardly call guitar playing ordinary, some of us are musically challenged..

criswell Those are interesting too. My brother plays guitar. About miniatures, I’m watching the tv programme/competition where they have to make miniatures for a dolls house.

Yes it is Warhammer ones Marianne Marlow. And they are fiddly. We will definitely need to have our reading glasses on next time we paint some! What style of guitar does your brother play ffiscool? I mostly play classical although I don't play any where near as often as I should.

I’m not sure tbh. I’m seeing him tomorrow, will ask. I tried guitar, but my fingers didn’t stretch as they should.

I’m not musical at all. My eldest son is a great jazz pianist and my second eldest taught himself to play guitar from his early teens and now plays in a band. My main hobbies are reading, cross stitch, card making, baking and every now and again I do a bit of candle-making or other crafts. I do have a weird hobby though…I watch videos of dermatology procedures and foreign objects being removed - cysts, dilated pore of winers, large splinters, botfly larvae, blood clots, tapeworms…the list is endless and I find it fascinating but also relaxing!! I’m not a squeamish person, obviously. I find people either find it disgusting or else also find it satisfying. It’s a bit marmite - you love it or hate it! I have never watched or even knew anything about MRE’s, but that’s a really interesting thing to actually try doing Marianne Marlow.

I used to ride my motorbike around various race circuits on Track Days (these were not races, or not meant to be anyway). I haven't given up this hobby but it's been years since I actually was on a track. I still pootle around on my bikes on occasion, on the Queen's highways.
