Charlie is still the same. He is eating OK but has very little energy. He still wants to come out, then play for a very short time, and then just wants to sleep again….. I don’t know what to think…many times this year I have thought that he was at the end and has then picked up..He just seems worn out……..If this is Bornovirus….it’s horrible…..Nothing I can do but wait and see….😟

You are doing the best for him, caring for him and watching over him. Sounds like he will continue to give you clues on what he needs.

This is a horrible rollercoaster for you and Charlie. It’s such a shame and must be so frustrating when no one can explain why he’s so up and down. I really hope he picks up and has some better days again ladybird.

It truly is a rollercoaster and has been since April. Only last week, he was so well and I could relax and enjoy him without worrying all the time…and now he is like a different Charlie, not talking much and looks really miserable. He has loose droppings today, could be my fault for giving him too much millet..his favourite treat. I dither if I should dose him with Metacam or not. There is no point taking him to the vets, she can’t do anything only suggest ####……she did that a couple of months ago and she was so wrong…… I feel bad guilt when he is like this but know he can suddenly be Ok again….not right that we only think he has bonovirus, but the vet did seem convinced…….. I just hope he picks up soon and he can swear all he likes!!

it is so hard when so many ups and downs.. but you are right, in my opinion not to go back the vets.
it is such a shame it is not known what causes the ups and downs and what it is even, but the fact he is still here, is amazing.
I hope he picks up again, as he has been doing along the way. if you think he is in pain, then maybe the metacam will help. it is horrible when they cannot tell us what they are feeling..
you cannot feel guilty about anything, you h ave kept him going and giving him all the ups..

Charlie sitting with his daddy this morning….. He has just eaten the special food from the breeder and as you see, gone straight to sleep….. This is what he does each day just now……..He is fluffed up as you can see, so really not well…….I have some antibiotics and think I will start him on a weeks course today. I don’t know if it’s the right thing to do but that is the only thing I can do……. Any opinions?

My opinion ladybird is that you know better than any of us what Charlie needs. You know the calculation: is the benefit of the medication going to outweigh the side-effects and the stress of capture? You've had to make this calculation many times previously and I trust you to make it again. I truly wish there was "an answer" but we all know with budgies, there rarely is.

I have been giving him Metacam for the past few days, so I would just give him the antibiotics at the same time….. He seems so poorly so I think I have to step in and give it to him…….
