I'm so sorry, Ladybird. I feel so sad. You allowed us to feel like Charlie was a part of our families and flocks. I think we all feel something of the loss you are feeling. Fly high Charlie, and free of troubles.

ladybird I am so so sorry to hear this, it is tremendously sad. Please do not feel guilty though. You loved Charlie and have only ever done what was best for him, he knew that. He was one very lucky little budgie to have you as his mum. Take care of yourself. X

I am so so sorry ladybird. I too have tears. Charlie was so lucky to have your love and care and he knew just how much love. He returned it and your bond was so special. It is the hardest thing ever when we lose them, but you can not feel guilty in any way at all.. Charlie only made it this far because of you and there was no stone left unturned. He knew he was loved and that for any person/pet is what is important. RIP Charlie - you will be so missed.

Tears are in my eyes as I read and write. I cannot say how sad I feel. Surely Charlie has a special place over the rainbow bridge for the love he gave you. Take care of yourself or allow your hubby to take care of you in your grief.

I'm so very sorry ladybird. Charlie was such a special boy and we all got to love him. You have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. You did every thing possible for Charlie and gave him an amazing life. I'm glad that you had a nice chat and kisses with him at bedtime last night as that is a lovely memory to have. I feel so sad for you and your husband. Take good care of yourselves. Hugs xxx

I'm so sorry ladybird. It's so hard to let them go, in any circumstances, even when you think you've prepared yourself... Fly high Charlie - your strength & personality has touched a lot of us here.

It has been heartbreaking to read this thread and follow the battle against his illness, both you and Charlie couldn't have done any more to beat it. We all share your loss.

I thank you all, your kind words really help………I sat with him in the little blanket the nurse wrapped him in all, afternoon. I tucked him next to my neck where he liked to sit. It helped a little. We will bury him tomorrow, with his favourite toys……. Just wish I could stop crying 😢😢

We all understand and would be the same. You fought so hard for him, he fought back to.
No non bird owner will ever understand how much love these little souls give us.
I’m glad you brought him back with you

We have buried Charlie this morning…he was wrapped in the beautiful little blanket the nurse had wrapped him in for me to hold while he passed away. It was very peaceful and they let us stay in the room until we were ready to leave. Hubby cradled him all the way home , and then I held him to my chest all afternoon. He is buried in an airtight box with his disco ball and a note from us……..He is next to Henry our other budgie and our little dog and cat. They have a lovely headstone, and I will put some flowers there later……Both me and hubby stood in tears…..
When we went to the vets and she examined him, she said the only thing she could do would be to start doing tests…x Rays , swabs blood tests etc ets…..she said the cost would be hundreds and not guaranteed to give an answer. Plus he had had so many antibiotics etc , most illnesses had already been treated if he had them………I asked if if he were her Budgie, would she put him to sleep…and she said it was the kindest thing to do………. So both me and hubby agreed….kissed him before she took him …….And a couple of minutes he was back with us wrapped in the blanket for us to nurse while he passed………

That is so beautiful and so sad, Ladybird. No one can say that Charlie was not loved the full measure. He was an extraordinary but a very fortunate boy indeed.

I glad you were able to be with Charlie when he passed and that he was peaceful. Charlie couldn't have wished for better people to take care of him.

I am so very sorry and sad for your awful loss ladybird. Charlie was an amazing character and it’s clear from reading through everyone’s comments just how much he touched us all. We have all had you and Charlie in our thoughts for months and I’m sure collectively we would have all wrapped our arms around you cuddling Charlie in his sweet blanket yesterday. Charlie has the most beautiful resting place and somewhere you can go to visit and put flowers for all your lost pets. Fly high Charlie. I hope you are loving the sun on your back, the freedom from any pain and all the millet you can eat. Still holding you and your hubby in my thoughts, Ladybird.
