Do you see Charlie drinking much of his water?

Yes he has plenty of sips of water, and when I tell him it’s bedtime, it’s the last thing he does.

That happens to me, too Ladybird. Sometimes the call comes a day or two late. Most annoying.

I hate it when people don't phone when they say they will. Especially when it's about a sick animal, that's not on. How is he doing? (did you manage to get some iodine?)

I have phoned them again, and I am trying to get an appointment for Tuesday……….It’s difficult because I can’t drive in the dark ( glaucoma) so they would need to see him early afternoon. I explained to the girl what I thought it could possibly be… Trichomoniasis and she said she will speak to the vet…….I have said I am NOT prepared to leave him there for tests because it’s too far for me to keep travelling….PLUS…we have already spent hundreds. So it’s a really difficult situation…we shall see. He has had a bit of egg this morning, I mixed it with a bit of millet and a spoonful of the Birdcare Mix. I honestly don’t have high hopes of him getting better, but this state of limbo isn’t fair on him…….

It’s very poor they haven’t phoned back. Just thinking, if they have an email address, you could email with all your thoughts, asking re trich etc. the problem is, with humans and animals alike, that symptoms can apply/overlap to lots of different things.
Is there anything that they could suggest you can do, sending a sample of, that might stop you needing to go, if that sample would be what the vet would do.
Given her reputation, I’m sure there must be conditions that have been ruled out.
I’m just thinking out loud here…

I appreciate it fficool…….I know really that the main avian vet thinks Charlie has bornovirus, he has had so many different meds that whatever it is , would have been treated. It’s such a shame that back in April they didn’t do the tests for it. But he was too I’ll apparently and went straight into the incubator… Charlie is such a fighter and has a mummy that just can’t let go easily. He is definitely not like any other budgie I have had. I think the vet will phone back this time and I really must listen to whatever it is she says……..

I wouldn’t let go either. If they had tested in April and it had shown, it may still have evolved how it has, whatever showed.
It’s just not knowing how to help him more…

I feel really angry, nobody phoned me again. Now I understand they don’t want to perscribe anything without seeing him……..but yesterday when I phoned I asked if she could see him on Tuesday and could it possibly be early afternoon because I don’t drive in the dark…….She said she would talk to vet and phone me back …..and didn’t 😡. I can see he is slowly getting worse. We have spent a lot of money with them….with meds and consultation . Hubby thinks it’s time to take him to local vet and ………But of course I still have that glimmer of hope.

That is infuriating. I'm still waiting for an email from my vet btw but as she is waiting for emails from two other vets, I shouldn't expect much I guess. You can only go with your instincts ladybird, when facts are absent. Trust your instinct.

I phoned them yet again, and have got him an appointment at 11-15 on Tuesday. If she agrees that there is a small chance it could be Trichomoniasis, then she can prescribe something…..…..I am NOT leaving him there again. My gut feeling is that she will say he is a very sick budgie and I am just prolonging the inevitable. If that is the case….I will do the right thing…………

Oh ladybird this is so hard for you I really hope it is tricho so that at least you have a shot at something. As for the other thing, that is really your call to make. Whatever you decide on either count, we are right with you.

As Marianne Marlow says, ladybird we all know what you and Charlie are going through and we all support the hard choices you're having to make.
