I'm becoming concerned about Squeak.
Although active and eating well, and droppings appearing normal, she seems to snooze a lot the past couple of days or so. I put this down to her vigorous moult but I'm not so sure.
I was able to observe her not being molested by the other budgies for a time and caught some of it in the video. Slight tail bob and the appearance of breathing heavily at rest. She's spending a noticeable bit of her time as a fluffy ball and searches for quiet corners to roost, away from commotion.
All of these symptoms were displayed by Patch, who I believe might have been a sibling. Patch passed away at nearly seven months, the vet was unable to determine why but felt it was a congenital condition. Squeak is 13 months old.
Update: I'm watching Squeak snoozing in the bookcase. Her tail bob is more pronounced. She seems to be bobbing her head a bit, as if she is managing her crop. She does not look at all well, good grief this is fast. I started this post to ask if I was being over-anxious but now I know there's an issue. Nothing much I can do until the morning when I will phone for an emergency vet appointment.
Herman is trying to gee her up right now but she is very quiet and not moving much.
Update: Squeak has woken up a bit and has headed to the cages for a feed. Mr Hibs is monitoring. She suddenly seems OK. I will have to watch her closely today.
